Visualization BI Lead

Data is our primary asset, and we want to extract increasing value from it to help our business lines make critical decisions and build data products that further help our customers. We designed our own supercomputing platform, HPCC Systems, and are developing data visualization tools to supplement the platform and support our businesses.
The Visualization BI Lead is responsible for supporting the vision, strategy, and operation of the Visualization and Business Intelligence practice. The position will work with individuals at all levels of the corporation from Insurance product management, verticals, finance, sales, analytics, and technology to turn data into actionable and compelling visualizations..
To be successful you’ll need strong data and database experience, insurance and business acumen, storytelling ability, technical prowess, and a passion for learning. You’ll learn and improve the tools to help us harness internal and external data through advanced visualizations. You will become an integral part of a growing team that is responsible for increasing the leverage that we get out of our vast data assets, both internally and externally.
- Design reports, dashboards, infographics, and other visualizations for internal monitoring and tracking in original and innovative ways.
- Collaborate with Analytics and IT teams to transform data for use in visualizations, including the architecture, scoping, proposing and management of data warehouses to support the Visualization and Business Intelligence infrastructure.
- Manage the ongoing life cycle responsibilities for existing reports, dashboards and alerts.
- Evaluate new functionality that should be applied to existing reports, dashboards, and alerts
- Monitor the release process and placement of new reports, dashboards, alerts, and other visualizations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the key drivers and opportunities within the business.
- Follow prescribed standards and recommend new/revised standards related to metrics and visualizations.
- Provide support and training to business users on our data and visualization tools.
- MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree
- MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 years
- Experience with SQL or other query language(s)
- Strong knowledge of business intelligence concepts
- Ability to readily transition between business customer and technical developer perspectives with ease.
- Strong knowledge of MS-EXCEL (Pivot Tables, formulas)
- Experience with designing reports on visualization & BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong analytical aptitude and a basic understanding of statistical methods.
- Ability to readily transition between business customer and technical developer perspectives with ease.
- Demonstrated expertise with problem analysis and solving. Able to identify relationships in data to assist in providing insights
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to work and to meet deadlines in a fast paced and challenging environment.
- Self-starter with strong self-management skills and ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in developing reports/dashboards for a broad user-base with Microsoft Power BI and DAX
- Knowledge of how insurance products are designed, implemented, distributed, and sold.
- Experience in analyzing data from automated underwriting (i.e. personal auto, BOP) environments preferred.
