Job Title:   Portfolio Director – Energy, Marine and Rotorcraft Portfolio  

Reports to:  Divisional Director, B2B, REED Exhibitions UK  

Based at: Richmond, Surrey

The role:

This is an amazing opportunity to lead a well-established and vibrant portfolio of products in Energy, Marine and Rotorcraft industries that support communities around the world.   

Portfolio consists of seven events including flagship events, such as Offshore Europe and Oceanology International and has a worldwide reach. 

We are looking for a candidate to take this mature portfolio forward by generating above normal levels of revenue growth and deliver against an ambitious growth plan. 

You will need to demonstrate the ability to be a visionary motivator with strong commercial acumen and lead a cross-functional team of direct and matrix reporting lines to deliver exceptional value for our customers.


Key Responsibilities: 

Financial Delivery 

- Deliver portfolio growth and profit targets in line with strategic growth plans 

- Manage the portfolio budget to meet operational business plans.  

- Manage the financial performance to balance short  term success with long term growth

- Ensure a commercial growth mindset and approach throughout the division 

Leadership and Management 

- Develop the senior team of exhibition directors and managers in areas of leadership and management 

- Drive a culture of high performance and continuous improvement throughout the portfolio.

- Assess, develop and promote talent from within the organisation to enable future growth  

Strategy and Business Development 

- Proactively drive the strategy and growth of the portfolio. Identify new market opportunities, taking the lead on constructing robust and successful business relationships that secures new show launches, acquisitions and organic growth. 

- Engage fully with industry and market sectors to ensure the development of RX business is maximised.  

- Manage partnerships and business relationships with our key stakeholders; including venues, trade associations, the press and customers  

- Ensure the Board of Directors are kept appraised of market opportunities, conditions and associated business developments.  


Candidate Profile: 
- Strong record of success in commercial and general management roles, ideally in exhibitions or the Energy sector.  
- Experience and understanding of both sales and marketing functions 
- Experience and understanding of customer insight approaches 
- Proven success of working in both direct line and matrix management 
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience of managing across geographies  
- Pragmatic approach with the ability to form relationships easily and use influence to get things done
