One of Reed Exhibitions’ main goals is to innovate, develop, and differentiate our global product portfolio. We have an opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic Marketing Manager to join us in developing and launching new exciting events in a variety of formats.  We are looking for an individual who loves working in a small, agile team and being part of the creation of market-leading events of the future.
 
The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and implementing international marketing campaigns for events, and a tenacious can-do approach. Based at Reed Exhibitions’ headquarters in Richmond, the candidate will work closely with event teams, business development and marketing specialists across the company to deliver new event launches.  International travel forms part of the role.
 
Key responsibilities:
 
  • Developing and implementing innovative marketing strategies including visitor & exhibitor communication campaigns to connect with the event’s audience and meet strategic goals
  • Evaluating customer research, market trends, competitor data and producing effective and engaging marketing plans
  • Developing / overseeing multi-channel online and offline marketing activities, including optimal use of social media to promote the event
  • Analysing and measuring marketing campaign effectiveness
  • Using creative ability to develop event initiatives, content and special features to deliver an outstanding customer experience
  • Building customer databases, prospecting for new business, managing copywriting, print production & artwork in-house and with external suppliers
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with industry associations, media partners and key suppliers. Researching and negotiating barter agreements
  • Liaising with PR agencies and devising a compelling PR communications strategy
  • Supporting the sales team to drive space sales & sponsorship packages
  • Managing the coordination of visitor and exhibitor registration processes with third party suppliers
  • Developing an annual marketing budget and delivering marketing activity on time and on budget
  • Monitoring competitor activity (online and by visiting competitor events)
Ideal candidate profile
  • A highly driven, proven and enthusiastic marketing professional, preferably with events experience
  • Passion and enthusiasm for testing new and different products
  • Customer-centric and flexible approach – appetite for working at a fast pace
  • Ability to conceptualize products and articulate the future state of ideas clearly and fluently
  • Skill for building partner and customer relationships quickly and understanding market needs
  • A good understanding of multichannel marketing, segmented marketing initiatives and databases
  • A strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements
  • A strategic thinker and team player
  • Creative ability to develop new business opportunities and to launch new initiatives
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentations and report writing
  • A willingness to travel (internationally), work in a global team of professionals building effective relationships with partners and suppliers and be culturally sensitive
  • Strong interpersonal skills at all levels
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise a heavy workload
