The position provides proactive, timely, and strategic business analysis & competitive intelligence and for the company, through dedicated and integrated analysis, support and recommendations. Incumbent must excel at monitoring market intelligence, competitors and the competitive landscape, quickly communicating significant and actionable business analysis and implications, and providing world-class in-depth research to internal customers including Marketing, Product Development and the Engineering function to ensure product solutions lines exceed in the competitive environment. 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Collect information on the economies of scale, access to distribution channels, marketing solutions, government regulation, and technological advancements that can contribute to the success or failure of the business. 
  • Provide information to support the market and business development portions of the business planning process.
  • Assist senior management in developing business cases for new products and markets to grow the business.
  • Conduct research to identify competitor's technology, pricing, distribution channels and geographic locations. 
  • Support in the analysis of collected market research data to determine potential markets for entry, size of the market opportunity, and overall strength of the market to ensure product line solutions meet the need of the environment and the customer. 
  • Assist in the capture and prioritization of customer and business vertical feedback for subsequent product projects and enhancements.
  • Lead efforts in conducting tests and coordinated market research with customers to gain insight into how our products are performing. 
  • Providing regular updates on the changes in the competitive environment and working closely with other functional areas (e.g., Acquisitions, Marketing/Product, Sales and Engineering) to meet research needs.  
  • Leverage competitive data to identify industry trends and implications to pricing, product constructs, and product enhancements 
  • Keep abreast of development activities of 3rd party vendors and other business units to proactively address interoperability issues and uncover new opportunities. 
  • Develop proactive customer outreach programs, such as day-in-the-life visits, win/loss analysis, etc., and deploy across the broader product management organization
  • Proactively explore opportunities to leverage cross-LN content and functionality, and manage identified integration projects. 
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior management by fulfilling research requests and by proactively identifying key changes in the regulatory and competitive environment and their implications to the business 
  • Provide regular updates on the changes in competitive strategies, and identify relevant insights for business practices and marketing strategies  
  • Provide regular updates to senior management and/or business partners on the meaning and application of research findings. 
  • Build out the vision for the Competitive Intelligence team and oversee all relevant competitive intelligence activities 
  • Performs other duties as requested 
Qualifications 

 

 

  • This position will be responsible for integrating external data and internal business expertise to determine market trends and their implication on strategies.  
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 to 7 years professional experience in a marketing, analytical or consultative role and/or an advanced degree and demonstrated competencies in strategy, market research or product/market management
  • Must have demonstrated ability to insightfully set the vision for projects that require the proper mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • MBA or pursuing an MBA is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to thrive in a team environment, by contributing expertise as well as soliciting/integrating input from subject matter experts throughout the company. 
  • Must possess an analytical mind, strong written and oral communication, the ability to work with individuals at all levels, the ability to manage multiple projects 
  • Strong working knowledge of tools and techniques for gathering and disseminating competitive intelligence information and appropriate application to specific assignments necessary.
