Are you looking for an opportunity to work on the leading events in the meetings, events and incentive industry? 


We have a highly challenging but satisfying role on offer in the meetings, events and incentives department within Reed Travel Exhibitions. We are looking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Account Manager to work on the Hosted Buyer Programme for a portfolio of events (Hosted Buyer Programme refers to Event planners who are looking to buy products/services from our exhibitors, in other words delegates hosted by IBTM). The ibtm team is responsible for five events on five continents and is globally recognised for providing the stage on which global meetings, events and incentive business connect. Each event within the portfolio has a designated Delegate/Buyer Programme Manager and is supported by Buyer Account Managers and Buyer Account Executives.


The Job: The primary responsibility is to manage and build relationships with existing and new groups of buyers in line with the event’s strategy and targets, while demonstrating a creative approach and ingenuity to deliver a seamless customer experience.  

Scope: To research, identify and recruit new & high quality buyers via groups in line with the Hosted Buyer Programme targets and event strategy, including data management, tailored recruitment campaigns and recruitment trackers. To manage the relationship with a number of accounts who also recruit buyers on behalf of IBTM demonstrating high levels of customer service and providing accurate reporting throughout the event cycle. Other activities include: attending industry networking events, database management, liaising with IBTM’s Official Travel Partners and general administration as required.


Key responsibilities:

Buyers refer to event planners that are looking to buy products/services from our exhibitors, in other words delegates hosted by IBTM

Build and develop relationships with senior decision makers within the meetings, events and incentive industry.

Increase the number of identified buyers and generate new business opportunities from allocated countries and leads via a variety of business development activities, with the goal to achieve the targeted number of buyers for the event. 

Extensive industry research and identification of new groups of  buyers for the programme, ensuring the qualification criteria are met.

Review a big amount of data to ensure accuracy and relevancy for the next event.

Management of new and existing accounts (suppliers who exhibit at the show) who invite buyers on behalf of IBTM.

Liaison with hotel chains, associations, agencies, corporates and publications to assist in recruiting hosted buyers.

Recruitment management using a database (Certain) to monitor registrations, undertake qualification and maintain an accurate database of industry contacts to provide reports and analyses.   

When necessary, liaising with our travel partner on flights whilst maintaining strict budget control.  

Regular communication with accounts ( Group coordinators) & hosted buyers on the phone, via e-mail and face-to-face meetings.

Provision of excellent customer service using a pro-active and creative approach to problem solving and dealing with a high volume of queries. 

Working closely with sales and marketing on key account management & campaigns to attract new buyers and drive interest in the event.

Attendance to industry events and client meetings to find new buyers, give presentations, establish contacts and network with industry professionals. 


Ideal candidate profile:
This client facing position requires a hardworking, flexible and dedicated team player with excellent presentation and written communication skills, a creative approach, and the ability to provide excellent customer service in a high volume environment. The candidate should demonstrate the behaviours and values consistent with a high performance organisation: a highly positive outlook that contributes further to the culture of both the local and wider team where individuals are encouraged to take ownership and be brave and bold; demonstrate high level communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; understand and challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Substantial account management or customer relationship experience within an event management environment.
A proven understanding of, and commitment to growing the programme through a business development approach.
Presentation and negotiation skills to persuade buyers to participate in the HB Programme.
An aptitude for networking and building relationships with a diverse range of people.
Strong time management, planning and organisational skills.
Ability to work calmly under pressure with great attention to detail and adhere to deadlines. 
Excellent database/IT skills, especially Excel.
Enthusiastic team player who can work collaboratively in an international environment.
Creativity – developing and proposing solutions to queries and a positive approach to conflict resolution.
Ability to provide excellent customer service in a high volume environment.
Fluency in one or more foreign languages would be advantageous.
A flexible approach to working methods and hours of attendance.
