This role applies to data science and predictive analytics position working for a global data company that builds risk and fraud solutions for a variety of industries including financial services, telecoms, retailers, auto lenders, and other types of service providers.   All levels are expected to conduct research and development tasks in the modeling/scoring functional area to build, review, and communicate statistical modeling activities to support the business.


The incumbent will be technically proficient in multiple predictive analytics and data mining methodologies using a combination of traditional and machine learning methods.  The incumbent will complete projects with supervision for junior roles, and independence for senior roles. The incumbent will balance day-to-day production assignments, research assignments and will contribute to the advancement of the group.  

 
Responsibilities: 
  • Execute modeling steps consistent with experience and level
  • Develop and institute guidelines, standards, and best practices to be implemented by the team. 
    Support, training, and be a resource to internal and external statistically trained and non-statistically trained audiences. 
  • Work with sales to provide statistical insight and guidance commensurate with experience and role
     Summarize conclusions, recommendations and solutions for client or stakeholder presentation commensurate with role and experience.
  • Depending on level of experience, build statistical models or supervise others to build statistical models and complete various analytic projects for a variety of applications including risk, fraud, and/or collections in insurance, credit, telecom, collections, and government verticals.  These projects will support internal development projects as well as client-sponsored projects. Ensure risks inherent in model development and usage are properly identified and managed. 
  • Participate in the development of software tools to streamline the building of models and other analytics. 
    Research and design scores, attributes, products and indices through exploration of across a wide range of data sources.  
  • Participate in the development of best practices and new technologies commensurate with experience and role.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications for Level 1 Associate Predictive Analytics Statistician: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, data science, mathematics or quantitative methods (or equivalent years’ experience), Master’s Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Entry-level experience (0-3 years) building predictive models or conducting data analysis using R, SAS or similar software package.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with R, SAS or similar software packages
  • Experience with data manipulation techniques
  • High degree of creative, analytic and problem solving skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and communicate effectively
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to adapt to new techniques and an innovative attitude towards finding solutions
  • Fluency with presentation and document programs such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, R Markdown, or Shiny.
