WordPress / PHP Developer

RBI are seeking an experienced WordPress developer with strong PHP and MySql, skills to join one our flagship digital brands based from our Sutton office. You will join a product development team delivering a content rich, highly interactive commercial web based product to end users of one of our most innovative businesses.


You will be working with a team of highly capable individuals in collaboration with web interaction designers and commercial stakeholders to deliver a game changing, market-leading product. The successful candidate will need to hit the ground running, with a proven track record in software development of enterprise class web applications.

Skills & Experience
  • Highly competent on WordPress, PHP, MySql, Linux
  • Competent front-end coding skills in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Proven commercial experience in developing and maintaining websites on WordPress platform
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • A real interest and passion for software development and high quality code
  • Knowledge of current web standards and responsive frameworks
  • Agile Development (Scrum/Kanban)
  • JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. JQuery,  Node.js, JSON)
  • Experience of TDD and Object Oriented principles
  • Git / Jenkins / Continuous Integration
  • Jira / Confluence
  • Amazon Web Services

Technology is a central part of the Farmers Weekly business. The technology team develop and maintain the online products that help UK farm and rural businesses effectively manage business records and meet legislative, cross compliance and performance management requirements. We provide news and views about the business of farming. Farmers Weekly magazine provides topical technical information from independent experts, designed to help farmers manage their businesses more effectively. We use modern technologies, work almost exclusively in the cloud and focus on agile development approaches.
