Elsevier’s Clinical Solutions is looking for a Vice President, Content Strategy & Partnerships to join our Clinical Solutions team. As Vice President, Content Strategy & Partnerships, you will lead the development of the end to end digital content strategy and roadmap, define success for the group and serve as a change agent as we advance the Clinical Solutions business strategy towards an integrated, action-oriented set of knowledge tools. You will own the buy, build or partner strategic decisions for Digital Content across a large breadth of diverse content assets.  You will also play a crucial role in aligning evidence-based information strategies across 6 content segments and content creation processes, inspiring innovation and efficiencies, and helping transform the function into the strategic engine of the company. You will work closely together with other stakeholder groups such as Informatics and Technology and serve as the key interface for Commercial and Product to support our overall goals.  You will also interface with other Elsevier teams, such as our Lexis Risk Solutions, STM Journals and Education, Reference and Continuity businesses.

The role will focus on defining a holistic content strategy to evolve current products and enable Digital Content’s transformation from providing reference information to providing advanced clinical decision support. You will also be responsible for aligning content roadmaps to best support the overall Clinical Solutions business strategy and meet customer segment and product needs. You will partner with the Vice President, Operational Transformation & Innovation to ensure that our content strategy aligns with and enables operational improvement. You will need to have a deep understanding of how our content creates value for our customers and integrates with technology partners such as Electronic Medical Record (EMR)s. You will define our decision support content strategy and identify where there are opportunities for synergies as well as need for differentiation amongst our content sets. You will report to the Senior Vice President of the Digital Content group.

Key Responsibilities
Develop an end-to-end content strategy to enable the transformation from individual products delivering reference information to a suite of products delivering integrated clinical decision support
Understand the Clinical Solutions business strategy and product strategy to enable a strategic and operational transformation within digital content
Create and manage an aligned digital content roadmap across all segments, while driving execution of priorities across our group
Assess editorial needs and processes across current content teams to identify strategic areas of overlap and opportunities for improvement
Understand industry trends in digital content development and usage to leverage insights to recommend improvements for Elsevier
Define key content types and elements to support products 
Assess content data strategy and utilization to inform overarching roadmaps
Drive embedding of content with data to inform content strategy 
Develop a plan to transition from content types to disease-based programs (Oncology, Diabetes, etc)
Develop a point of view on metadata and reuse of content within Digital Content
Innovate on content sourcing by testing a variety of content creation models, such as crowdsourcing, user contributions or committees, as well as traditional Subject Matter Advisor models
Develop, manage and execute a strategic partnership program for sourcing of content to support Digital Content’s Clinical and Editorial teams
Own the joint Societies & Associations partnership strategy in collaboration with our Elsevier Journals group
Accountable for developing, managing and achieving budget, schedule, reporting and contract negotiation
Cultivate a network of high quality contacts; identify potential partners, current and emerging opinion leaders, teachers, and clinicians.
Inform the end state vision for digital content and define metrics for success and manage cultural change
Manage a team of content strategists, ensuring strategic alignment across the group and drive execution
Champion the digital content perspective within the business, commercial and product strategy for Clinical Solutions
Work closely with the Commercial, Product, Informatics, and Technology teams to integrate their perspectives into the Digital Content strategy.  Serve as initial point of contact for Product and Commercial to determine best sourcing and resources to build  
        digital content 
Represent Digital Content and evangelize, both internally and externally, the value of Clinical Solutions Digital Content
Serve as a critical member of the Digital Content leadership team to identify and own cross team initiatives

Required

  • 7- 10+ years’ experience leading a strategic function
  • Experience leading strategy in healthcare
  • Experience in digital content development across multiple content areas, experience with Electronic Medical Record or other workflow technology embedded content a plus
  • Experience in business development and partnership negotiation 
  • Experience in working in cross-functional teams or matrixed organizations
  • Evidence of success as an agent of change by leading people, process and technology changes within an organization
  • Strategic Decision making
  • Advanced degree (MBA) preferred
  • Strong strategic perspective and proven execution and operational leadership
  • Familiarity with technology-oriented content innovations across a broad set of clinical content
  • Self-starter with strong sense of urgency
  • Results oriented
  • Entrepreneurial skills and good in starting up new initiatives
  • Business Consulting background a plus
  • Domestic Travel required, approx. 30%
