Sr. Software Engineer 

 

Cirium is looking for a highly skilled Sr. Software Engineer to join our newest project team and help build the core, back-end and front-end services that will make our products work.  This team tackles a wide variety of exciting initiatives including intelligent processing, customer onboarding and data analysis.  We will also combine foundational data sets from across Cirium to form new and interesting product solutions.  This team is an internally and externally facing team and is where flight data meets business needs The right candidate will display a positive, team-oriented attitude, possess intrinsic motivation for quality engineering, and will have a solid foundation of relevant experience, ready to jump in and contribute to our success. 

  

The new projects team is central to success of the product and will be working with other parts of the company by ensuring quality standards are met and timelines are reasonable.   The team will develop many internal tools that allow people – from managers to support engineers – to get close to our data and really understand what is happening as it flows through our pipeline. 

 

This is an exciting time at Cirium, as we are beginning to leverage data sets from different parts of the business, by fusing them together to form interesting, new data sets and ultimately result in products that are unique and incredibly valuable to our customers.  The flight data set is foundational to this kind of work and in the Senior Software Engineer role, you will be deeply involved in helping to bring new data sets to life. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with the product manager and other team members to analyze and conceptualize the design of products and requirements. 

  • Collaborate with team members on development standards, including code reviews. 

  • Convert product requirements into deliverables, set priorities, and establish timelines.    

  • Design, write, test and deploy production ready code. 

  • Install, troubleshoot and support a variety of software products and services that products are built upon and developed against. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math or equivalent experience. 

  • A minimum of 5 years software development experience. 

  • Experience with developing highly concurrent, scalable applications. 

  • Strong Java skills. 

 

Nice-to-Haves: 

  • Experience developing REST-like, lightweight micro-web services. 

  • Familiarity with Amazon cloud-based services and the Linux operating system. 

  • Ability to troubleshoot performance, capacity, and scalability issues. 

  • Experience with SQL, JavaEE and Kubernetes a plus. 

  • Experience with React, GraphQL, Typescript or other similar front-end technologies. 

 
Please note:  This is a regular, full-time position which requires working out of our office located in downtown Portland, Oregon.
