The Senior Product Manager is a significant contributor in the use of information in the insurance (or related) industry and LexisNexis products (e.g., contributory, MVR and credit), product management principles and laws and regulations governing data protection and security (including FCRA, DPPA, and GLBA regulations). Serves as product owner and SME for complex product and/or large revenue product or suite of products. Examples of complex may include cross-vertical, multi-feature, cross-continuum, modeling oriented. Examples of complex products/large revenue include MVR, NCF, models and Contributory products.

 

Applies experience and expertise to oversee product performance and ensure ongoing and increasing market value. Leads projects to apply new functionality or processes to improve the value/performance of assigned product(s). Analyzes customer trends and applies information to track on going performance of the product. Internal advisor across the pillars for product functionality, regulatory and legal matters for assigned products. Working with verticals, client engagement, operations and technology, evaluates and implements new product ideas and product improvements and evaluates their potential. Guides and instructs junior level personnel.

 
  • Develop and Enhance Products; Create and implement the product vision, roadmap and business plan. Analyze industry and customer trends and provide recommendations on long term strategic plans. For new product(s) and major product enhancements, manage the GTM methodology, gather, validate, and evaluate product and market requirements through Voice of Customer, competitive intelligence and product research.
  • Recommend business requirements for assigned product features, to include effective product and user interface design, product validation testing and usability testing, while ensuring that the product strategy is adhered to throughout the product life cycle.
  • Directs the release process and placement of new products, new functionality or enhancements in a technology release cycle.
  • Develop conceptual and evolutionary product plans that meet measurable benchmarks of customer satisfaction and will exceed customer expectations for functionality and user interface. This includes managing revenue budget plans and identifying and assessing business opportunities.
  • Manage the ongoing life cycle responsibilities for product(s).
  • Research cross-vertical, continuum expansion or product enhancement opportunities, if warranted.
  • Manage existing products that result from strategic partners and providers, including joint ventures and subsidiary relationships and projects.
  • Market and Sell the Product: Provide strategic consulting to Client Engagement and oversee delivery of customer presentations, retrospective analysis, internal and external product training and implementation recommendations. Direct delivery of materials to the appropriate marketing and sales organizations which convey the purpose and details of the product, definition of its user, benefits to the customer, customization capabilities, and competitive comparison. Update materials as needed.
  • Provide written and verbal communication of product performance, training needs, product updates, issues, industry changes, SWOT changes, etc. within the organization and externally, as needed.
  • Support the Product: Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for product and industry, including answering questions, consulting with Client Engagement, resolving customer issues.
  • Determines applicability to other products and adjacent verticals.
  • Provides internal and external product training.
  • Provide leadership and support to team members for oversight of day-to-day operations of product.
  • Evaluate and prioritize requested new and additional functionality to existing products.
  • Financial Management: Set shelf rate given market intelligence. Monitor and maintain customer product rates. Analyze management and financial reports, identifying and reporting on trends and issues as needed with emphasis on competitive and customer insights. Participate in the preparation of annual revenue and cost budgets for assigned product(s).
  • Other tasks, projects and duties as assigned.
  • Act as a Mentor for junior members of product management organization
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in business or other quantitative field. MBA or equivalent preferred. Progress toward relevant (e.g., CLU, CPCU) designation a plus.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in a product management function, preferably in insurance, (or related field) or the data decisioning industry.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills involving workload prioritization
  • Works well in team environment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong negotiation skills | Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Understanding of advanced Business Intelligence tools preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage changing and multiple priorities while maintaining productivity levels. In-depth knowledge of product development and evaluation processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Conceptual Thinking.
  • Provide mentoring and leadership skills to others in the organization.
  • Experience in the relevant vertical(s).
  • Demonstrated expertise with problem analysis and solving.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain positive rapport with diverse customers to give them high quality, responsive service.
  • Ability to work independently while keeping management appropriately informed.
  • General understanding of business principles and typical business practices.
  • Ability to utilize multiple communication methods including telephone, in-person, email, webinars, video conferencing - internally and externally.
