Elsevier is the market leader in educational materials, both books and e-learning solutions, focused on the Nursing, Health Professions and Medical fields. We are seeking an exceptional Sr.  Pricing Analyst, to provide data driven, actionable insights to optimize our pricing and business model strategies for our books business.

 

The successful candidate will join a company that operates in a market that is facing rapid changes in both customer demand and technologies. Our traditional books business is facing a strong increase in competition from the used and rental books markets. And in general, the education world is experiencing a shift away from traditional content-based teaching towards online, interactive learning solutions, including simulations and gaming. Elsevier leads the way here, and as a key member of both the North American Trade Organization and the Pricing team, you will have the opportunity to make a big impact and to build your Elsevier career in different directions.

The opportunity

  • Lead strategic pricing initiatives, including development and implementation of new business/pricing models for books
  • Optimize pricing/discounting across different go-to-market channels, incl. online and physical bookstores, purchase options of books e.g. new, rental and used, single products vs. bundles.
  • Leverage data and analytics to drive value-based conversations
  • Report on business performance, incl. identifying key underlying business/market trends
  • Drive implementation and monitor progress of projects and deliverables; manage stakeholders from product development, marketing, sales and finance

What you should bring

  • Skills and Experience
    • Experience in pricing and different approaches to developing and implementing pricing models; both in B2B and in B2C markets
    • Highly structured conceptual thinking, deep analytical skills including modelling experience, an appetite for detail, and the ability to consider and integrate multiple problems at once
    • Advanced proficiency with Excel, R and Tableau
    • Effective and persuasive communicator (verbal and written) with an ability to clearly summarize data, context and implications
    • Strong business sense, with an interest in the education industry
    • Strong influencer, relationship builder and stakeholder manager
    • Experience in coaching team members, on analytics, communication and business sense
    • 3-4 years’ experience pricing experience
    • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA / Master's preferred
    • Ability to present to c-suite leadership
