|Job Summary:  The Senior Director of Product Management, S&T Research Reference digital product group will be primarily accountable for the mid-long-term value proposition of the scientific Reference use case and commercial success. S&T Research Reference unit comprises of S&T eBooks and underlying data that is used by academic and corporate researchers to get up to speed on a research area and be successful with inter-disciplinary research. 

 

This individual will support the S&T Research Reference digital product strategy by comprehensive supporting reference use case in the pursuit of scientific research and focus on delivering clear competitive advantage in the marketplace vs. other eBook publishers. S/he will lead new product development as well as optimizing current products and commercial strategies in the market.

 

The person will manage and inspire a global team of product managers. S/he will be responsible for customer discovery and delivering a responsive product roadmap, utilizing agile delivery vehicles such as epics, sprints, stories and versions. S/he will collaborate closely with sales and marketing on Go-To-Market activities to achieve commercial success, including, where required, market analysis, pricing, and early adopter programs including product betas.

 

S/he will network with other Elsevier product and content leaders to evangelize the best practices within S&T Research Reference digital product group and where ever possible adapt and leverage common synergies with processes, technology and ideas from other Elsevier products.

 

Main Activities and Responsibilities 

Reference Roadmap

Own the S&T eBooks/Reference roadmap and the on-going development of the S&T Research Reference digital products including informing content strategy for the content development team. Collaborate with the technology team to execute the roadmap plans through agile sprints. Collaborate with customers/market to capture and validate existing and emerging trends.

Go-to-Market

Clearly articulate and validate the value proposition and own the success of the go-to-market efforts that help transform the business from a one-off business to largely subscriptions.

Team

Mentor a team of high-performing customer-focused, results-driven and collaborative product managers

  

Process

Advocate the adoption of stage-gate methodology and OKR process cross-functionally . Adopt and champion SVPG best practices in all stages and aspects of product management.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences 

Minimum of 10 years of digital product development and management experience

Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline; advanced degree is preferred

Experience working in information sector, ideally in STEM 

Additional degrees or certifications in product management preferred

Experience with products that drive value from both content and functionality

Fluent in digital analytics tools, A/B testing, AGILE, SCRUM.
