Make an Impact on Cutting Edge Science Publishing! 

This role will provide scientific expertise for product development at Cell Press, will liaise with colleagues in Editorial, Sales, and Marketing teams, will manage the successful Cell Symposia series, and will develop new opportunities for sponsored events. Based in the Cell Press office in Cambridge, MA, USA, and collaborating closely with colleagues in the UK, this is an exciting and dynamic career opportunity for someone with a passion for facilitating scientific communication and networking, and a strong interest in the business side of publishing.  

Your responsibilities


  • Create and execute a long-term strategic plan for Cell Press events. 
  • Curate content and provide scientific expertise for commercial products including webinars, conferences, online collections, supplemental issues, and more. 
  • Conduct regular competitor analysis and seek inspiration from outside science publishing to identify new technologies, ideas, and products to strengthen and diversify the suite of product offerings at Cell Press. 
  • Be responsible for timely, accurate budgeting and forecasting of events and achieving targeted revenue within the Cell Symposia portfolio. 
  • Identify and liaise with speakers, and be comfortable moderating live and recorded events. 
  • Oversee all aspects of conference development, including internal and external proposal submissions, selection of topics and speakers for each conference, presenting data-driven conference proposals to internal stakeholders, facilitating sponsorship, developing partnerships with high-profile academic institutions, and managing logistics.


What you should bring 
  • PhD-level education in the life sciences and a strong awareness of scientific trends 
  • Two years’ experience with industry or commercial work 
  • Business planning and project management skills 
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills 
  • Proven collaborative capabilities with both internal stakeholders and external partners 
  • Previous experience working closely with product, marketing, commercial, and sales. 
  • Experience developing and delivering new ideas 
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven mindset 
  • High level of comfort with the digital world, from community and content marketing through to moderating online events  
  • A positive, enthusiastic outlook and creative problem-solving capabilities 

Upon acceptance of this role, the selected internal candidate will be required to sign a Restrictive Covenants Agreement which includes Non-Solicitation, Non-Disclosure and for certain roles a Non-Competition Agreement as a condition of placement into the role.
