ICIS has an exciting opportunity for an analyst in its Shanghai office. We are looking to hire an experienced China natural gas markets analyst. Someone who can play a central role expanding our forecasting capabilities in East Asia. You should have a keen desire to work as part of a diverse, global, team of industry analysts, data modellers, developers and product managers.

 

Job Scope

This researcher will work closely with quantitative analysts and global energy market analysts to develop and strengthen ICIS knowledge and understanding of the Chinese energy sector. They will be expected to lead market insight development and delivery, with support from international colleagues and in close collaboration with product managers. The role involves gathering and processing of data and qualitative information, developing in-depth knowledge on LNG / natural gas markets, building network in the industry, developing and utilizing statistical forecasting models to support analysis, and the role will also involve presenting LNG/natural gas market topics to internal audiences. The regional focus of this role will be on China natural gas/LNG markets, preferably based in Shanghai.

 

 

Key Skills Required

  • At least 1 year engineering or commercial experience in natural gas / LNG industry, or, relevant industries;
  • Intermediate knowledge in natural gas / LNG industry domains;
  • Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into analysis;
  • Ability to conduct both bottom-up and top down research;
  • Knowledge in statistics, finance, macroeconomics, business administration, and business operational practices;
  • Effective communicator, ability to work across multiple teams and time zones;
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin and English to a high business standard, both verbally and in writing;
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills;
  • Able to travel;
