Job Purpose:

Regional Sales Manager – Aerospace, North America

Job Summary

Reporting into the Vice President Sales - Americas, the Regional Sales Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of existing and target accounts, Business Development Managers and Account Managers within the FlightGlobal region they manage.   The Regional Sales Manager should consistently achieve predictable and sustainable sales results that meet or exceed company plans while developing a team that continuously improves and represents the values of FlightGlobal and Reed Business Information.  The Regional Sales Manager will also have a variety of duties aimed at managing the specified portfolio client relationships, developing new business from existing clients and actively seeking out new clients. As with most sales management roles, the Regional Sales Manager will typically be compensated with a base salary plus a bonus plan tied to the amount of revenue generated by both themselves personally as well as their team.

Key Role Responsibilities

The Regional Sales Manager’s responsibilities will include:

Account and Target Management:

·         The Regional Sales Manager must meet or exceed sales objectives

·         Take instruction from the Vice President Sales - Americas on the customer quota for the confirmed business year.

·         Ability to meet that sales target through personal example and embedding in the team value based selling techniques, values, experience and behaviours outlined in this job description.

·         Retention of existing client base with the ability of follow up leads and information from trade shows and events

·         Liaising with the marketing, product and sales enablement teams to help develop a deep understanding for the continued success of strategic sales priorities

Staff Management and Development

·         Managing a team of Business Development Managers and Account Managers to meet or exceed sales objectives

·         Coach, mentor and embed FlightGlobal’s sales processes and value based selling principles across the sales organization

·         Conduct weekly one-to-one meetings, monthly reviews, bi-annual and annual appraisals and regular team meetings

·         Developing and implementing sales processes to facilitate sales growth and high customer retention

·         Develop the competencies and effectiveness of the sales team members

·         In a situation where a staff vacancy occurs in their team, the Regional Sales Manager will coordinate and lead the recruitment effort

 

Client Communication

·         Identify and build relationships with key executives and decision makers within client firms of the sales territory managed by the Regional Sales Manager and his sales staff

·         This is accomplished by listening to each client in order to gain an understanding of their individualized needs, in order to direct them to the appropriate product or service.

·         It is important for the Regional Sales Manager to manage the expectations of clients; when disruptions occur during the service delivery process, it is imperative that the Regional Sales Manager works to resolve situations quickly, as the goal is to maintain the customer relationship and delivery of the account

 

Reporting:

·         A Regional Sales Manager is required to prepare various reports surrounding the metrics of the sales department: quarterly sales results, annual forecasts and account status reports are just a few examples.

·         Reporting documents presented to senior management as directed.

·         Knowledge of computer programs and CRM systems such as Microsoft Excel and Salesforce.com is required to complete reporting tasks.

 

Mentoring:

·         The Regional Sales Manager is required to act as a mentor to new members of his sales team. This can include providing support with product training, joint client visits/calls and mentoring staff as they follow their career journey with the company

·         Promoting the companies values and standards to other members of the sales team and taking the lead in adopting new sales methods and promoting product initiatives
