Quantitative Analyst – Power Markets
We are looking for a market analyst to join our established energy analytics team in London (UK) or Karlsruhe (Germany).
You will be involved in producing market leading analysis and developing quantitative market models. You will work together with our modelling, data and weather teams.
You will develop market models for power trading in the mid-term and investment decisions in the long-term time horizon, with a strong focus on the European power markets. You will be part of an international team, benefitting from our modelling experience also in other energy markets.
As part of your role you will be developing and running innovative analysis approaches and models. Combining data and latest forecasting technology is the basis for our competitive advantage.
You will be part of an international team, which requires occasional travel within the EU. As of day one, you will be tasked with challenging analytics projects and be in contact with customers and prospects across the EU energy landscape.
Main responsibilities
•    Develop data-driven quantitative market models to predict market variables
•    Analyse market drivers and provide in-depth, data-driven analysis
•    Develop, maintain and improve routines and data preparations
•    Take responsibility in the team for live operations
•    Build a deep understanding of power markets
•    Constantly learn new techniques (eg machine learning) and apply to existing problems
•    Attend exhibitions, conferences and customer meetings

Key skills
•    Previous relevant professional experience in the power/energy sector, preferably in a consultancy or analytics provider
•    Good programming skills (eg Python, Matlab, Java) and SQL
•    First experiences and affinity to power markets and statistical modelling
•    Analytical mind-set, critical thinking, and ability to build profound knowledge in complex markets
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
•    Fluent written and spoken English, German advantageous
•    Bachelor/Master degree in relevant area (economics or quantitative science)
