Publishing Support & Insight Specialist – GLO000T5
This role is part of one of the three local Publishing Support Teams, which all fall under the Publishing Services Department, one of the supporting units within STM Journals. The Publishing Support & Insight Specialist (PSIS) will work closely with the VP/Publishing Director of each Business Unit/PMG to support local Publishers across the three STMJ publishing units (PS, LSSS and HMS) and will contribute to the main STMJ initiatives including open access publishing and society publishing. The PSIS will support author, reviewer and editorial relationships and society relationships of selected portfolios, by collecting and generating required data, information, analyses, documents and reports or by undertaking other activities in direct support of the portfolio objectives.

Key Result Areas

Gather data, information and facts by using existing reports (e.g. circulation, EES, PTS, usage, citation reports, etc.) or build custom reports and analyses. Provide insights gained from information gathered and provide results for Publishers to use in proposals, reports, editorial appointments and meetings. Prepare, edit, format, proofread and print publisher documents including presentations to Editors/Editorial Board meetings/Societies and proposals and e-mails. Communicate with VP/Publishing Director of PMG to set annual strategic objectives to support portfolio plans. Communicate with internal and external contacts about queries and status of ongoing activities. Take up various additional tasks as may be required to support portfolio objectives and publishing activities including work on special projects, new journal launches, website maintenance, A&I applications. Prepare, edit and format internal forms and documents for new journals, journal changes and journal transfers. Contribute to building and maintenance of the Centre of Excellence to share best practices and contribute to the efficiency of the Global Publishing Services Team.


Functional and Technical Competencies
  • Very strong Microsoft Office skills: Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint;
  • Ability to quickly learn Elsevier's databases and internal systems;
  • Affinity with, and proven track record of, building and using reports and analyses; 
  • Ability to initiate and track multiple projects at the same time;
  • Strong eye for detail;
  • Good communicator, both verbally and written;
  • Analytical mindset
 Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experiences
  • BA / BS in English, Science or related areas;
3-4 years general office experience, preferably in publishing environment
