Accuity is looking for a Principal Java Developer to join our team of highly talented technologists in our vibrant central London office to work closely with development peers and software developers to support the successful delivery of software assets and related deliverables for our financial screening solutions.


The Principal Java Developer is expected to provide technical leadership to software engineers’ squads in the designing of high quality / cutting edge solution designs, the researching and use of existing and emerging technologies.

The successful applicant will also be responsible for overall quality/health of our software assets.


Key Responsibilities:

-          Liaise with Solution Architect & Principal Developer to ensure enterprise and architectural patterns and processes are followed and to participate in development and evolution of architecture.

-          Contribute to the development of technical standards

-          Act as interface between the squads and the Architect and Security Engineering communities.

-          Research & assess established & emerging tools/technologies to support the business needs

-          Support the development squads’ technical needs and queries

-          Help resolve complex technical issues

-          Ensure all staff are provided with technical support to improve existing skills and on-board new ones.

-          Help foster a culture of continuous improvements and innovation.

-          Empower developers/squads to be accountable and responsible for their own actions and decisions.


Required Skills/Experience:



-          Proficiency in development languages including but not limited to: Java Core/J2EE 1.8+, JavaScript, XML, SQL.

-          Experience using Spring Framework (inc. Spring REST, Boot, Data, Security, Batch, MVC)

-          Experience with at least one queue technology (e.g SNS/SQS, RabbitMQ, Kafka)

-          Knowledge of Angular

-          Understanding of Identity Access Management best practices (SAML, OAuth2, OpenId Connect).

-          Excellent technical leadership, communication and presentation skills.

-          Knowledge of big data architectures and analytics

-          Experience of on-premise, virtualisation and cloud based infrastructure using Amazon Web Services or Azure. 

-          Knowledge of System Engineering activities like Build and Deployment automation & infrastructure as code (Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Terraform).

-          Solid knowledge of Security Engineering best practices.

-          Agile Software Development, Scrum/Kanban.

-          Proven knowledge of TDD/BDD.

-          Excellent problem-solving ability including leading teams to identify, research and coordinate resources to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues.

-          Ability to engage and liaise with stakeholders across all functions.



-          Experience with search solutions (ex. Elasticsearch).

-          Experience of NoSQL and graph database platforms.

-          Micro-service architectures.

-          Asynchronous programming

-          XQuery

-          Redis

-          Experience with ETL process and tools
