The dynamic role of the Markets Editor is to cover a portfolio of petrochemicals markets by producing pricing reports, timely news and in-depth analysis, as well as maintaining plant databases and update methodologies. The Markets Editor gathers information by developing relationships with sources and produces high-quality, accurate and timely content in line with standard procedures and style requirements through building a comprehensive knowledge base about the markets and the industry. Meticulous record-keeping and strict adherence to methodology and other compliance-related policies are essential in this role. The Markets Editor contributes to the profile of ICIS by attending and speaking at conferences, helping to organize ICIS events; by meeting sources in person; and by supporting sales visits to existing and potential customers. The Markets Editor also contributes ideas and carries out work on new coverage areas and new product opportunities with the aim of expanding the ICIS business and meeting customer needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Cover a portfolio of petrochemical markets and produce daily and weekly price reports, real-time news and in-depth stories as well as insightful commentary of assigned markets
  • Write engaging copy to regular deadlines, with the highest level of accuracy, balance and analysis
  • Speak to sources to discover pricing information and market trends and proactively chase stories and developments across your portfolio of petrochemicals
  • Assess the validity of information and place it within a wider context 
  • Develop sources and maintain existing relationships
  • Deliver market presentations at key conferences and/or during client visits
  • Work on free content including podcasts, videos, and infographics

  • Ability to work in a team and be highly adaptable to a fast-paced and continuously developing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and numerical skills
  • Unafraid to ask probing questions and challenge information
  • Able to write compelling copy to strict deadlines
  • Ability and perseverance to build contacts and pursue leads
  • Able to explain complex financial concepts in a simple and engaging way



  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Journalism, Business/Economics)
  • Petrochemical/energy industry knowledge or knowledge of financial markets is desirable but not required
  • Ability to speak a second language (particularly Mandarin) is preferred
