Market Demand Analyst - ICIS – Europe

ICIS is seeking to recruit a bright and talented Market Analyst to join its European team and primarily become the dedicated, global, internal centre of professional expertise regarding demand for various polymers and their relationship to key end-use sectors. He/she should be able to work within a global team to generate new data sets, insight and information to current and prospective ICIS customers. This is a team contributor role, necessitating team work and collaboration.
You will need to be a motivated and energetic individual, with demonstrable experience in downstream petrochemical markets.
This is a new product development driven role requiring high levels of individual commitment and focus but potentially an incredibly rewarding one. You must thrive in an international and complex environment, be a team player and be willing and able to combine innovative thinking with hands-on execution.
• Identify, evaluate and gather data regarding consumption of major polymers and elastomers, as well as defining the structure of downstream markets and relevant industrial sectors.
• Analyse this data to generate insights into current and historical demand so as to implement more sophisticated forecasting of developments in consumption.
• Working closely with the existing global analyst team to improve the quality, consistency and granularity of data provided to customers.
• Assisting with the development of new modelling tools by ensuring high quality inputs and assisting with designing and implementing scenario analysis.
• Co-ordinate with local market experts in key regions to ensure consistency of coverage on a global basis.
• Experience in a data/analytics focused field
• Knowledge of markets and products which consume a high proportion of polymers
• Experience of economic analysis
• Minimum expertise on MS tools, knowledge of SQL and Python would be advantageous
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and to take initiative in developing new areas of analysis and expertise
• Excellent ability to communicate powerfully and prolifically
• People orientated, ability to collaborate well with the team
• Capability to build strong relationships both externally and internally
• Have a positive impact and influence
• Working language is English and other capabilities could be advantageous
