Junior Market Analyst (6 month Internship) - ICIS - London
We require one Junior Analyst – Energy and Refining to support the ICIS Product & Data Analytics team in London, UK. The intern will be focusing on data automation efforts for the energy and refined oil product market, and will work alongside two senior analysts in the ICIS office, one in Holborn, London, and another in Bremen, Germany. You will be encouraged to take on your own projects and will have the flexibility to combine your work with your dissertation or thesis, if relevant. Based on your performance and business needs, you may be offered a permanent position in the company after your internship. The internship will run for six months from December 2018.

• Be a current university student or a recent university graduate

• Be available to work in the London office at 110 High Holborn, London
• Commit to at least ten hours per week for six months
Company and team
The ICIS Product & Data Analytics team is developing several new tools for forecasting power, refined oil products, and petrochemical markets. As an intern you will have a role in shaping the development of these products, with an emphasis on primary energy, refined oil products, and petrochemical feedstocks.
Key responsibilities
• Developing a global database on power, natural gas, and refined oil products, including petrochemical feedstocks
• Researching and identifying new sources of data and information to further complement existing resources
• Writing code to automate data collection
• Testing and troubleshooting existing coding to ensure quality control
Key skills required
• Fluency in English
• Interest in energy markets
• One year of relevant work experience desired, but not essential
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Studying towards a degree in energy, finance, data science, computer science, economics or similar
• Work individually and be responsible for your own project and deadlines
• Basic knowledge of data manipulation languages desired
• Good operational and modelling skills with the ability to use database querying tools such as SQL and development languages Python desired
