Marketing Manager, ICIS Events

The role
This is a market leading portfolio, with over 60 global events each year, delivering multi-million dollar revenues and high profit margin to the ICIS business. Most importantly this enables ICIS to bring together communities of key industry practitioners and ensure our thought leadership and insight drives better outcomes in our target markets.
This role will drive revenues to accelerate growth and be the brand ambassador across our flagship portfolio of conference and training courses for the Base Oils market.


The successful applicant will be experienced in planning and creating conference marketing campaigns using a wide range of digital and offline channels, and be able to demonstrate their ability to deliver on ambitious growth targets, whilst controlling costs.


You’ll thrive on the opportunity to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines are met at all times and always deliver on your objectives. With a methodical, organised and innovative approach, your customer centric focus will allow the organisation to differentiate for success.

You will be used to challenging the status quo, identifying and successfully implementing new initiatives to expand our routes to market and ways to attract key audiences. Your passion for understanding market dynamics, allows you to meet the customer’s needs and use data for growth, development and lead generation within the events.
You will have a record of achieving outstanding results in a fast-paced events environment used to finding the balance between obsessing over measuring important KPI’s, and thinking laterally to solve problems with innovative and creative solutions.

Qualities required:
Marketing Strategy
• Interprets customers’ needs and can formulate and execute strategic marketing plans in accordance
• Ability to drive the strategy for a specific area of marketing with long and short term priorities in consultation with key stakeholders
• Promotes a strong customer/buyer focus to influence business strategy formulation

Decision-making and problem solving
• Is able to make decisions to inform the marketing, customer, competitor and market strategies
• Proactively gathers and interprets information to make recommendations and decisions
• Leads and promotes the use of metrics to improve marketing effectiveness across the portfolio of events
• Pre-empts problems, identifies opportunities and creates workable solutions
• Optimises marketing spend through lean techniques and purchasing controls

Customer-centric focus
• Can interpret, understand and document key customer touchpoints on the buyer journey
• Understanding the customers’ needs and ensures we are articulating these through creative and relevant marketing collateral
• Ensuring messaging is consistent and engaging through the marketing touchpoints
• Has a passion to engage across the whole of the customer lifecycle, using clear marketing KPIs which are measured, evaluated and refined on an ongoing basis

Partner/Alliance Marketing
• Skilled in evaluating partners and alliances from a portfolio perspective, ensuring they are right to support business goals, objectives and values
• Adept at developing and maintaining strategic relationships with partners ensuring ongoing tracking to deliver joint value
• Strong negotiation skills

• Communicates clearly, confidently and fluently in verbal and written form
• Good questioning and needs analysis skills driven by curiosity

Fostering teamwork and connectedness
