Director UX Design

Are you the UX leader Cirium is looking for? Cirium has grown its portfolio significantly through the acquisition of leading data intelligence companies, including Ascend, Innovata, Diio and FlightStats. We are seeking the UX leader who will define what an exceptional customer experience is for us as one business. 

 

The candidate chosen for this role will have an opportunity to shape the future of UX for a leading data and analytics brand. They will have the opportunity to lead the delivery of exceptional, consistent customer experience for an innovative, exciting and growing business.   You will work with senior stakeholders from across the business and be the lead on Cirium’s most prominent product launches. You will be working in one of the world’s most fascinating industries, travel and transportation and aviation.


You will report to the Director of Product Operations and will be responsible for defining what a great customer experience is for Cirium across a consistent common user interface. You will lead UX strategically and build and embed UX in Cirium.

  • Over 36 million passenger itineraries are processed each year to alert corporate travel companies, travel agencies and airlines, so that travelers stay up-to-date with flight status and airlines minimize disruption
  • Over US$300 billion worth of airline tickets are analyzed for market insights
  • Over 35 million airline flights are tracked per month covering over 97% of scheduled flights worldwide and more than 90% of commercial aircraft in service so that engine OEMs can keep track of the per hour use of their engines

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
  • Balances organizational needs with customer needs (commercial) and creates a strategic plan for the organization.
  • Sets overall design strategy for company and represents design at Senior Leadership Meetings.
  • Communicates and evangelizes the importance of real customer engagement within product development.
  • Develops an actionable, repeatable, and reportable user experience strategy
  • Champions that UX is not just about GUIs, but that it is about how our customers interact with all of our products (APIs, analytics, Pro Services and more!)
  • Monitors the requirement for the team to develop new technical skills to meet business requirements and groups team members with complementary skills on projects to facilitate learning.
  • Mentoring others within the UX team, being proactive and encouraging design learning 
  • Developing a strong process for requesting and resourcing UX and design support and being an advocate for user research and testing
Key Skills Required:

  • Consistently generates creative, resourceful solutions to complex problems

  • Is highly skilled at tailoring messages to the needs of the audience
  • Models teamwork by working effectively with other leaders within the organization
  • Has earned a high level of trust from other teams and is seen as a collaborative working partner
  • An understanding of HTML & CSS that is sufficient to collaborate with technology squads
  • An understanding of responsive grid layouts and design frameworks
Software skills required:
  • Expert knowledge of Sketch 
  • Proficient Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Microsoft office
  • Software skills desirable 
  • A vision for design/development collaboration 
  • Axure prototyping 
  • Microsoft Teams 
  • Experience working in Jira and confluence 
  • Adobe analytics
