EG, the UK’s premium source of real estate intelligence, has accelerated its digital transformation over the past 18 months. April’s launch of Radius Data Exchange, a four-year project to create a contributory database and news and analysis service backed with £4m of RBI investment, means rapid transformation is a business imperative.
 
It now needs a skilled, dedicated digital desk whose outputs flow from web into print.
 
Working as part of this team, the digital sub-editor will ensure that our news, analysis and research is optimised for its target audience through effective and appropriate use of SEO, infographics, images, multimedia, tagging and hyperlinking, plus intelligent sub-editing and thorough proof reading. 

They will be able to move fast when news is breaking but have the patience to build longer articles into user-optimised sources of insight and intelligence that property professionals will keep coming back to.

As comfortable working with marketing and events teams as with journalists and researchers, the digital content producer will be skilled at interpreting requirements and applying their expertise to all aspects of the business.     

They will understand that great content is nothing without visibility and ensure that articles and events are promoted through social media and all of EG’s web channels. 
   
Our digital content is also repurposed to create a weekly print magazine and a variety of supplements, reports and investor guides, so the successful candidate should be able to turn their hand to page layout and copy editing.

Few people will have all of the skills this multi-platform role demands, but if you have a flair for copy editing, can champion reader engagement and are open to new ideas, technologies and ways of working, this role offers a rare opportunity for professional development in a growing digital business.   

 

Preferred skills/experience

• Strong written English
• WordPress or similar web CMS
• Awareness of SEO and optimising copy for a web environment
• HTML and working with embed codes
• Social media platforms and strategies
• Knowledge of libel law and copyright issues
• Sub-editing, headline writing
• Tailoring copy for a specified audience or platform
• Ability to prioritise work and work to deadlines
• Design/layout skills
• Infogram or similar infographics software
• Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
