The Nursing Health Education (NHE) Analytics team is a talented group of engineers and analysts that provide key capabilities to capture and analyze user behavior within our portfolio of education products.  Analytics data drives the development of new capabilities, informs our product teams on roadmap development, and powers a continuous build-measure-learn cycle in pursuit of excellence.


We are looking for a very talented Visualization Analyst with strong problem-solving skills to deliver actionable insights through analytics.  The purpose of this role will be to create, improve and enhance reports, dashboards and analyses that support Sales, Product and Marketing to improve insights and effectiveness. This will be done by combining a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative data sources form within and outside of Elsevier and translating them into actionable insights via reports, dashboards or analyses.



  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the learning data model – create queries, improve existing queries, and manage data transformation to enable short and long-term analytics and reporting
  • Build rich and dynamic dashboards using out-of-box features, customizations, and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, R or equivalent
  • Partner with the Business Stakeholders and Engineering teams to improve cross-functional data quality efficiencies/effectiveness, BI development standards, and best practices
  • Strong visual and communication design skills to help deliver value through an experience that is engaging and intuitive (design samples may be requested)
  • Ensure continued data governance (quality, integrity, completeness, timeliness) such that all reports/dashboards and analyses are trustworthy and reliable
  • Become an influencer with and motivate all stakeholders to emphasize the importance of data quality for trustworthy and reliable insights
  • Explore and recommend emerging technologies and techniques to support / enhance BI landscape components
  • Provide summary documentation on the acquired results of all analysis.


Preferred experience and technology requirements:

Must haves:  

  • BA/BS in a field that emphasizes analyzing, displaying, or reporting on data (e.g., business, computer science, math, engineering, economics, statistics), or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of business intelligence and data warehouse experience
  • 2+ years of experience with RDBMS
  • 2+ years of work experience in data analytics
  • 2+ years of experience in SQL (create, maintain, and improve data sets, pipelines and reporting)
  • Demonstrable experience building responsive user interfaces and data visualizations using Tableau or other like tools 

Nice to haves:   

  • Web development experience, including Python (or other scripting languages), JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and visualization principles.
