As a Content Strategist you will obtain and leverage deep domain expertise for assigned NHP disciplines to develop, manage, and execute an informed, customer-focused content publishing strategy with focus on compelling electronic formats and functionality to drive usage.  Clearly define the content development plan, including text and multimedia components, frequency, and types of updates for all applicable modes of delivery.  In collaboration with Content Development, accountable for developing, managing, and achieving budget, schedule, and reporting.  Responsible for contract negotiation . 


  • In collaboration with manager and other stakeholders, develop, manage, and execute a content strategy, supporting migration from print to electronic solutions, ensuring that customer needs are met and that content currency goals are achieved for assigned disciplines 
  • Leverage existing content and platforms to develop new product ideas 
  • Work closely with Content Development to ensure that content strategy for products is achieved. Create innovative approaches to content delivery to drive increased revenue and distribution of content
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the issues, trends, needs and preferences of users in order to plan and provide quality products; perform regular market research
  • Maintain strong knowledge of competitive offerings, both in print and electronic
  • Keep abreast of the changing technology landscape and the impact technology has on ensuring content accessibility and use
  • Atend appropriate conferences, author/editor meetings, product/technology information sessions, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel 10% of the time 
  • Gain a deep understanding of content usage to inform strategy 
  • Conduct periodic user surveys and hold in-person sessions to gauge usefulness and need for content, features, and functionality 
  • Manage products for optimum revenues and profit
  • Build realistic budget at proposal stage and monitor performance against budget
  • Monitor performance of entire area and troubleshoot with stakeholders to adjust content strategy to improve performance, if needed
  • Propose new and revised products that meet market needs and ensure continued growth
  • Monitor development work to ensure that authors adhere to deadline and scope
  • Monitor production schedules and troubleshoot with authors as needed during production phase
  • Support pre-publication efforts by Marketing with timely submission of product information and other tools
  • Lead/participate in divisional initiatives as needed
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Production groups, as well as other key staff, to develop and create global products in keeping with the defined strategy
  • Work with Marketing and Sales to propose price and units, promote products, and collaborate in the development of marketing plans and the initial draft of promotional messages, including participation in conferences, trade shows, sales meetings, and direct interactions with customers in support of sales

Knowledge of the healthcare publishing world

Bachelor's Degree in English or related field

Minimum of 5 years publishing and/or content strategy experience with strong online product development knowledge
