We currently have a vacancy to join the Compliance Team as A Compliance Officer. Although the role has many administrative elements we expect this individual to have great interpersonal skills, interested in presenting and have the ability to communicate confidently at all levels. If you have a compliance background that will be advantageous, however this is not a perquisite.

Operational Responsibilities:


 


General: Support the Compliance function to ensure that all staff are aware of and comply with any applicable legislation of a regulatory nature, the requirements of regulators (as are appropriate), compliance procedures, systems and controls and the Reed Elsevier Code of Ethics and Business Conduct. 

Compliance procedures, systems and controls: Support the effective implementation of RBI’s control environments, ensuring that various Compliance controls and administrative processes are effectively and efficiently implemented in a timely fashion. 

Assisting with the development, maintenance and improvement of RBI and departmental policies and procedures, advising employees on their implementation, and identifying and improving systems and controls to ensure awareness of and compliance with such policies and procedures.


Business advice: Provide day to day advice and support to group and its world-wide market reporting and support teams across the range of regulatory and compliance matters, building relationships with key stakeholders across the business.

Monitoring and Audit:  Support and assist the Compliance function with the delivery of the Group Compliance monitoring and audit responsibilities. This will include taking specific responsibility for the delivery of elements of the ICIS business’ Compliance Monitoring and Audit Programme, as well as assisting with other business unit and support team reviews. Including the collation, printing and preparation of audit packs, and relevant compliance documentation to be distributed across global business as well as archiving of past audit documentation.


Training: Organising delegate lists and proficiency with Microsoft for all diary management across multiple time zones, as required. Assisting with the organization, development, implementation and delivery of face to face, remote and electronic training to RBI employees world-wide as and when needed. 

Business and regulatory projects: As and when required assist with departmental and cross-departmental project work, to deal with both business and regulatory changes and developments or to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the control framework.

Regulatory Escalation or Whistle blowing: Support the escalation process to ensure that where any form of crime and/or compliance failure is found that this is immediately reported to the Compliance function that and that the RBI Group Risk and Compliance Officer is kept informed of all issues that the job holder encounters.

Team working: Fully support the business and Compliance function in an effective, proactive and value-adding way to ensure that the team’s day-to-day and strategic objectives and responsibilities are met.   

This role will require the employee to travel to as and when to some of the international offices from time to time. This may include travel to other UK offices, USA, China and Singapore.


 


Experience/ Skills Required


 


Educated to degree level or with relevant experience.   

The candidate is likely to have had experience of working in regulated environment such as the financial services industry.  Familiarity with KYC, AML, and GRC would be an advantage.

Previous Administration experience

Strong analytical skills and confident in analyzing large data sets. 

Excellent attention to detail.

Be proactive and able to use their initiative.

Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to liaise at all levels.

Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word and Powerpoint. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create concise, clear and insightful reports and presentations.
