Brand and Communications Manager

Job Purpose:

The Communications Manager will conceptualise, plan and implement the organisation’s communications, brand positioning and messaging, both internally and externally. They will create powerful stories using internal and external sources and shape them into content that drives the ICIS’ brand positioning from a price-reporting agency into the data analytics space. They will also drive the employee communications agenda to support our global collaborative culture. 


Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• Be responsible for  the day-to-day internal communications and activities of the business, considering how they can be used in customer communications by portfolio and regional marketing colleagues
• Designing and implementing the brand architecture and strategic positioning
• Evaluating the brand of our potential partners to see who we would want to be associated with per market
• Working with legal on our brand trademarks and logos following a recent acquisition
• Planning internal activation of brand messaging to ensure all on message
• Developing a survey tool with customer analytics to lead to measure the brand
• Maintain a strong brand for the business, both internally and externally, including PR brand messaging.
• Work with content and marketing teams to create and deliver strong story-telling with connected, optimised content strategy across the business
• Responsible for the monitoring of media and current affairs developments, across a wide range of media, alerting the business to risks and opportunities
• Work with internal stakeholders, including RBI and RELX corporate communications to co-ordinate and prepare statements and articles for internal and external communications 
• Manage the publication and promotion of all internal communication materials, including messaging, design and production
• Ensure that the communication outputs are of a high standard, respond to the needs of the target audience, and delivered within agreed budget and timelines  
• Build on existing and develop new relationships with media, key decision makers, member organisations and stakeholders
• Aid in the preparation of presentations and communications for the Marketing Director, Senior Leadership Team and Managing Director as requested.
• Working with HR to product content that supports recruitment and key employee events.
• Work in collaboration with the HR team to drive employee engagement through regular internal communications about the business strategy, career development and organisational changes.

• Ability to work calmly under pressure and within a small dynamic team
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
• Ability to manage a complex workload and work to tight deadlines
• Writing skills: You need excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the ability source stories from employees
• Speaking skills: You also need strong speaking skills, as you are likely to be called on to give presentations to employees. Sensitivity to an organisation’s goals and values and the ability to relay them to employees.
• Interpersonal skills: You need good interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to work with internal departments. You also need to possess the confidence to deal with senior executives and explain communication techniques to them.
• Creative skills: You need the creative ability to devise communication strategies.
• Digital skills: Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication, is essential. Strong commercial skills to drive value for the business area.

Experience Required:
• Degree in relevant discipline preferred
• Strong experience in a communications/PR/marketing role
• Project management experience with a proven track-record of delivering on objectives
• Experience of developing and implementing media, advocacy or marketing campaigns
• Experience of representing an organisation to the public and/ or media
