We are continuing to grow and are looking for a Development Lead - Software to join our Development team in our Toronto office, reporting to the Director of Technology.

 

As the Development Lead – Software, you will working with and dynamic team focused on leading with company values, delivering customer value and keeping the team motivated providing technical and team leadership through coaching and mentorship.

 

What will you do? 

  • Contribute to the product's vision and goals, as well as technical strategy
  •  Lead the team in building a best-in-class platform and related tools
  •  Oversee an exceptional group of engineers with a strong team-oriented culture
  • Provide technical leadership to drive the design and deployment of extremely large Machine Learning Platform, Analytics Platform, Big Data platform and suite of products
  •  Develop functional product prototypes in support of marketing, sales, and UX research and discovery efforts
  •  Mentor the professional development of each team member through personal and performance management and coaching
  •  Help in planning and own managing of the team’s yearly budget


 

  • 10+ years of proven experience as a Software Engineer/Developer
  • 2+ years of progressive leadership experience directing high visibility initiatives 
  • 5+ years of experience with Marklogic / Big Data / NoSQL desired 
  • Demonstrable experience with agile/SCRUM or similar methodologies for continuous development of product and technology 
  • Penchant for great algorithm design and strong CS fundamentals 
  • Strong passion for QA, usability and accessibility 
  • Ability to work on a diverse team or with a diverse range of people, and in a rapidly changing multi-disciplinary work environment

  • Experience with high-growth technology companies, and in organizations that know how to compete and win 
  • Entrepreneurial and collaborative, able to operate effectively at a high level but also hands-on, execution-oriented, and capable of getting things done quickly 
  • Able to translate a long-term vision into a near-term, executable plan, including prioritizing and triaging effectively, deciding which projects to deliver first

   

Technical Skills

 

Languages & Tools:

 

Java, J2EE, Eclipse IDE, XUnit, Junit, Mockito, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, XPath, SQL, Splunk (Desired) Expertise in Mark Logic, XQuery is highly desired, Visual Studio Team Service/Azure DevOps, VersionOne, Selenium , Jenkins , CI/CD

 

Source Code Management tool:

 

GIT, GIT HUB, IBM ClearCase etc.

 

Frameworks and Design Patterns:

 

Object Oriented Design Patterns, Microservices (Desired)

 

Process:

 

Test Driven Development, Agile development process, Scrum, DevOps, Dependency Injection and Inversion of Control containers, AWS cloud-based architectures, REST principals
