Internal Communications Manager (12 months contract)

This is a unique 12 month secondment/contract opportunity to lead the design and implementation of our integrated internal communication strategy focused on the culture of our business, to drive engagement, performance and growth. Creating and distributing engaging news and content through a variety of channels and media to help our people better understand the business strategy, their input into achieving this and feel motivated to deliver – ensuring the right people, get the right information at the right time, and in the most effective way.


Working within our HR team and directly with our Managing Director and senior leaders, the Internal Communications Manager ensures a flow of news throughout the business with strong coordination to ensure communications and events run smoothly and effectively.


Key Results Areas:

  • Design an internal communications strategy which proactively embraces the company values and brand vision, focused on all areas of Diversity and Inclusion, Wellbeing, and Corporate Social Responsibility

  • Deliver large-scale events including our annual all company Town Hall and All People Manager Conference, from concept planning through to execution

  • Run regular engagement events including quarterly charity lunches for our employees, question sessions with our Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team and monthly manager briefing updates with input from the wider business

  • Lead our Diversity and Inclusion agenda, liaising with and supporting our employee resource groups to drive ideas, suggestions and run events, and guide the strategy for HR and our leadership team

  • Champion Corporate Social Responsibility, with creative campaigns to increase utilisation of CSR days and sharing updates on our impact within the community

  • Lead our monthly and annual engagement surveys for LNUK, delivering analysis and insights to our Senior Leadership Team and using the results to guide engagement activities and proposals for LNUK

  • Identify engaging story ideas and write, edit and proofread communications to ensure consistency in key messages, tone of voice and accuracy of house style

  • Deliver engaging communications through a variety of media including email, video, posters, in-person briefings and through Yammer

  • Utilise PoliteMail measures to review the effectiveness of individual campaigns and internal communications, monitor feedback and suggest strategies to continually improve the effectiveness of communications

  • People management responsibility for the HR Coordinator, supporting their development to grow in their role and take on increasingly complex projects whilst gaining a broader business and HR perspective

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to multi-task, working on multiple projects with minimal supervision, and to tight deadlines

  • Previous experience delivering large-scale events with various stakeholders, taking a ‘hands-on’ approach for the delivery of quality results

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office software suite, including Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SharePoint would be beneficial

  • Experience in either internal communications, marketing communications, PR or brand management
