Editor – News Writer
Permanent role in London

The LexisNexis news team provides news coverage to more than 50 topics on Lexis®Library and to all Lexis®PSL practice areas. We cover breaking legal and regulatory stories and provide insight into how they could impact lawyers and their clients. We monitor government sites along with all UK and European regulatory institutions to ensure our customers are kept up-to-date and informed about the latest developments in their field of expertise. We work closely with our in-house teams to provide timely, accurate information to our products. Our news is provided to customers throughout the day online and in customer email alerts. Our content is also surfaced through LexisNexis® Newsdesk®.

News writer
We are seeking candidates with a love of news and an interest in how legal concepts shape our society.

Candidates will have an interest in news writing and publishing. Candidates will be responsible for writing news stories, and creating feature content on topics across the legal, tax and business spectrum.

Candidates should be tech-savvy with a flair for writing interesting news stories in plain English for a time-poor audience. 

Candidates should demonstrate understanding what makes our news content important and usable for our audience. 

  • Write news articles, fixed to the needs of specific audiences on the latest legal/tax/accounting and regulatory developments on the day they are issued
  • Edit, proof and rewrite copy to improve readability and ensure consistency
  • Verify facts, dates and details using standard reference sources
  • Edit to house style, and enforce editorial policy
  • Pitch stories to senior members of the team
  • Conduct interviews with industry professionals
  • Develop story ideas for feature content


  • University graduate—preferably Law/Journalism /English/Politics or qualified by experience in the B2B/professional publishing industry
  • Broad understanding of legal and tax markets
  • Excellent understanding of UK legal system 
  • Passion for current affairs relevant to legal audience
  • Previous publishing experience, preferably in a news environment 
  • Clear succinct writing style, and the ability to adapt to LexisNexis® house style
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Strong spoken communication skills
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Team player
  • Awareness of intellectual property and libel law risks
