Technical Marketing Specialist

Purpose of the job:

To support the STM Journals Publishing division by successful management and delivery of all aspects of online marketing across the entire range of product offerings. Close collaboration with the global e-Marketing team as needed to ensure standards, targets are met and deadlines are achieved.


Key Result Area:


Successful execution of all marketing activities:

·          Plan, create and manage campaigns/activities as needed

·          Become a “super user” for relevant marketing tools and systems. Provide input and feedback on developments and functionalities to Marketing Communications Managers and Publishing

·         Develop understanding of online marketing best practice and advise business contacts as required.

Online marketing


·         Create, update and maintain online presence via various systems

·         Manage online marketing of all product types and channels as required

·         Timely support for all aspects of online marketing on behalf of all stakeholders

·         Creation and management of relevant e-mail marketing collateral

·         Advise as necessary regarding requirements gathering, release testing, technical feasibility and project planning

·         Analysis of various channels with a view to increasing relevant conversions/actions

·         Design and implement back-end systems to streamline e-marketing workflows


Marketing communications support

·          Involvement in global Marketing Communications projects as required

·          Support for online tools and processes in use by the department

·          Assist as needed in online marketing tasks

Technical and Professional Expertise

Functional and Technical competencies:

·         In depth knowledge/exposure to HTML and CSS (e.g. via Dreamweaver or hand coding)

·         Knowledge of supporting image/artwork creation applications (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign etc.)

·         Experience on web design, web development using content management systems

·         In depth knowledge of web and e-mail analytics software & methodologies (Google Analytics/Adobe Analytics)

·         Solid and proven programming/coding skills are advantageous (e.g. ASP/PHP/SQL), especially in area of producing data-driven web solutions

·         Highly experienced in publishing of content to web servers via different systems

·         Online marketing knowledge (techniques, workflows, “do’s and don’ts” etc.)
Awareness of multiple web browsers, platforms and technologies


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

·         Excellent English language skills required (both verbal and written)

·         Collaborate and coordinate with multiple teams in department

·         Ability to self-manage, organize, prioritize the workload to meet deadlines

·         Ability to coach non-technical staff

·         Educated to bachelor’s degree level in computer science

·         Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role in an online /MNC environment is preferable
