Software Engineer II

 

This position is on a team responsible for releases of the LexisNexis flagship product, Lexis Advance.  As a member of this team, daily responsibilities will include continuous integration, build pipeline, app assembly and some coding/maintenance work. The ideal candidate will have C# programming skills and possess good troubleshooting and software debugging skills for complex software systems.  You will be using a variety of tools and diagnostic techniques including VSTS, Fiddler Traces, Splunk, CloudWatch and will also have an opportunity to develop in-house tools and dashboards.  Candidates will have exposure to a very broad range of development, QA, and DevOps related activities for a world class enterprise web application.  A software engineer in this position will use and learn many cutting edge technologies such as AWS / Cloud, Jenkins, Automated Testing, CI, Build Pipeline & C#/JS Development.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Execution of build process.
  • Full lifecycle development process including design, development, testing and implementation of moderate complexity systems.
  • Methodical and detailed in debugging and troubleshooting processes.
  • Analysis of Splunk data and application logs to identify root causes and potential degradations.
  • Interfaces with technical and non- technical personnel and/or team members to finalize requirements.
  • Works with engineers to analyze, troubleshoot, and implement code changes.
  • Codes proficiently in C# and JavaScript.
  • Performs unit testing based upon test plans generated and reports results and recommendations to project leads.
  • Perform support functions in validation cycle as required (i.e., test monitoring, debugging, problem resolutions, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • 2+ years of web application development experience.

  • Understanding of ASP.Net MVC client and server.

  • Proficiency in C# and understanding of best practices.

  • Proficiency with client-side web development technologies and concepts such as Angular and Typescript.

  • Experience writing and maintaining C# unit tests.

  • Proficiency with Visual Studio.

  • Knowledge of object oriented and service-oriented software development.

  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.

  • Experience with Jenkins and NuGet a plus.

  • Experience with Fiddler and using it for troubleshooting a plus.

  • Experience with developing and maintaining automated builds a plus.

  • Experience with AWS and understanding of build/bake/deploy process a plus.
