TEC001FE Requisition #

Elsevier wants to make our customers’ experience of finding and purchasing our products and services better. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join the team doing just that.
Are you a mid-level/senior full-stack software engineer who cares about their work and customers’ interactions and wants to join our dynamic team?

We practice a minimal agile process, which allows us to ship small and fast - getting features into the hands of customers quickly.

We don’t focus on hiring for experience in specific technologies; instead we look for problem solving, collaboration and a willingness to learn our stack.

What you have
  • A real passion for well-thought-out and straightforward solutions to problems.
  • Care about how customers use and interact with products.
  • Ready to learn and work in all areas of our technology stack.
  • An interest in DevOps, Continuous Delivery and automation in general.
  • Experience in building systems or applications, backend or web facing.
  • Experienced in at least one programming language.
What you will do
  • Develop customer facing experiences, using the latest web techniques and technologies.
  • Build solutions to new problems in our stack, which currently includes VueJS, NodeJS, TypeScript, MySQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes and Ansible.
  • Deliver features from specification to production. We have QA but they don’t test your work, you will.
  • Work closely with product owners.
  • Write tests to validate your work.
  • Collaborate with teammates to produce high quality solutions.
  • Contribute to code reviews via pull requests, to keep quality high and technical debt as low as possible.
  • Communicate directly with partners within other groups.
  • Ship to production in your first week.

If you’re passionate about working on customer focused software and have relevant skills and experience, please consider applying even if you don’t think you tick every box. We are committed to diversity and especially encourage members of underrepresented communities to apply.

Location

This role is available in our Kidlington office in Oxfordshire. Need to relocate? Talk to us about our relocation packages which will assist you in joining our team.

We offer flexible working and have systems in place to enable working from home when the need arises, waiting for a delivery, doing the school run etc. We are also happy for you to work from home one day a week, every week, if that suits.
