Relationship Manager, Academic Segment

LexisNexis is seeking a Relationship Manager with strong business development and account management skills. As part of our Nexis Solutions group, you are responsible for driving POS and growing revenue through the sale of LexisNexis products to professionals within the Academic segment. 
  • Meet or exceed monthly and annual revenue sales goals 
  • Identifies and targets sales and revenue/growth opportunities within an assigned territory or set of accounts. Develops and implements a detailed strategic sales plan to demonstrate how to maximize those sales and revenue opportunities. These sales plans may include territory analytics that track revenue trends, recognizing sales opportunities, targeting specific sales activities, analyzing competitive threats, and managing and strategically deploying all resources necessary to secure the business, (i.e. consultants, technical and product support, marketing, pricing, etc.) 
  • Identifies key contacts and decision makers within a customer organization and develops strong relationships with those contacts 
  • Owns the relationship with the customer and is responsible for the overall health/status of the relationship 
  • Provides customer feedback to other parts of the organization (i.e. segment, product, marketing) regarding product or content issues 
  • Negotiates/renegotiates contracts
  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of LexisNexis products, content and solutions including the ability to articulate competitive differentiators and our value proposition 

  1. BS/BA or equivalent experience. MLS or MBA preferred 
  2. 5-7 years of proven sales experience, preferably in a business to business environment
  3. Proven success negotiating contracts and closing business 
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present to an executive-level audience 
  5. Solid strategic account planning and penetration skills 
  6. In depth industry knowledge and the ability to quickly develop an in-depth understanding of LN products and services 
  7. Understanding and expertise in programs such as Windows XP, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and the Internet. 
  8. Documented history of sales overachievement 
  9. Deep understanding of Strategic Selling, Value selling, Team Selling, and CRM systems (Siebel is preferred) 
  10. Strong time management, organizational and forecasting skills 
  11. Strong business acumen to understand the impact of your decisions on the territory performance as measured by revenue, profit and customer measures
