Main purpose of the role

This is a 6 month fixed term contract working for the Commercial and Sectors group to help deliver the LexisAsk service and core content for the Commercial and Sectors Group modules. 

Our LexisAsk service allows LexisPSL customers to ask a query across a wide range of practice areas. In supporting this service you will be expected to carry out legal research, draft answers to 

LexisAsk questions and support the LexisAsk team to ensure the smooth running of the service. 

Your work on core content for the Commercial and Sectors Group will include reviewing new and existing content across the modules for quality and legal accuracy, as well as developing new and existing practical guidance content. 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Helping to respond to LexisAsk queries by:

  • Conducting legal research and liaising with subject matter experts within PSL practice area teams.

  • Drafting replies to queries from customers within a specified response time. 

  • Compiling a bank of “Q&A” style documents across our suite of PSL content, adhering to the defined style guidelines. “Q&As” are designed to share answers to previously asked customer questions, as well as provide brief advice on topical queries.

  • Work on initiatives and process in particular to help develop the smooth running of the service in order to increase efficiency in both the delivery of ‘live’ LexisAsk answers and ‘Q&A’ content. 

  • Working closely with the Commercial and Sectors PSLs and the content acquisition team to commission and draft practical guidance. This work will include: 

  • Reviewing new and existing content for quality and legal accuracy.

  • Drafting case analysis, practice notes and precedent content.

  • Collaborating with external authors regarding externally written content. 

  • Having input into the development of technical solutions with our product teams, to ensure that we are delivering guidance in the most efficient way possible.

Key competencies:

  • Academic qualifications and skills - Excellent academic qualifications and legal research and writing skills. Demonstrates an interest for, and some knowledge/experience of Commercial law and practice

  • Customer Focus - Keen to understand customer needs and implement customer feedback. 

  • Compelling Communication - Clearly and succinctly conveys knowledge and information. Writes in plain English in an accurate and focused way that is appropriate for online content and the audience.

  • Contributes to team success - Actively contributes to the success of the PSL teams and the overall objectives for the practice areas.

Builds trust, works diplomatically, demonstrates sensitivity to others whilst when necessary persuading or presenting compelling arguments for change or improvement.

  • Continuous Learning - Takes responsibility for developing own knowledge and skill, putting new knowledge and understanding to practical use on the job.  Willing to take on uncomfortable or unfamiliar situations in order to learn.
