  • Position requires Bachelor’s or higher degree

  • Minimum of 5 years strategic procurement including sourcing and contracting experience

  • Demonstrated complex project leadership experience, utilizing project management disciplines and tools

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships including varying levels of business stakeholders and globally-based, culturally diverse third-party suppliers

  • Ability to quickly understand and work with individuals of varying business cultures, both domestic and international

  • Able to understand and influence internal stakeholder demands and decisions on relevant product and workflow specifications

  • Experience in successfully developing proposals and driving supplier evaluation and certification processes

  • Able to develop and deliver proposal processes and procedures, and lead to deliver such

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills leading to abilities to influence and impact strategic organizational transformations

  • Ability to work as part of a team





  • The successful candidate will likely have significant work experience in procurement,  managing internal and external  relationships.

  • Subject matter expertise in Direct Spend (content acquisition, editorial, production or operational services, print, publishing, paper, distribution, warehousing etc) and related activities

  • Subject matter expertise in data transformation technologies such as xml architecture, content conversion, and content repositories

  • Highly-honed negotiation skills, developed through significant deal making experience

  • Strong influencing skills that can be used to lead teams and build partnerships with internal  stakeholders and RELX Group supply base

  • Ability to communicate effectively with  senior executives

  • Proven experience leading organizational change

  • Experience writing and generating RFP's, RFI's and RFQ's to suppliers

  • Excellent quantitative/analytical skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Excellent team development and management skills




  • Ability to initiative and build strategic working relationships at the executive level in order to facilitate agreement with internal partners

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity

  • Ability to operate independently with little direction and  to work  through conflict to resolution

  • Ability to attract, retain and develop senior professionals to build a strong team

  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to build trust with others who may not have identical goals

  • Persuasive written and oral presentation skills

  • Ability to effectively and concisely present complex data and concepts

  • Culturally aware with the ability to communicate and lead projects in multi-cultural, multi-national environments
