Legislative Database Analyst

LexisNexis is seeking a Legislative Database Analyst to join their thriving StateNet team in Sacramento, CA. Our group handles all laws and regulations within the 54 jurisdictions from content to final conversion. In this role you have the opportunity to make a difference by facilitating all aspects involved in the collection, XML conversion and QA of Primary Law content, specializing in Legislative reporting. You will drive several key functions within our close knit team by realizing operational efficiencies and ensuring that all content is completed accurately and in a timely manner.


  • Accurately deliver all content for their assigned jurisdictions including but not limited to all phases of the legislative cycle - introduced through enactment, as well as content from legislative calendars and text processing/XML conversion.
  • Ownership of jurisdictional legislative content and processes supporting Statenet.com and LexisNexis
  • Heavy data management, acquisition, processing and entry, always with same day deadlines.
  • Track the progress of content through internal workflow management tools and manage the accuracy of content through internal quality control tools 
  • Resolve content related client-facing issues and communicate effectively with representatives of client/customer support.
  • Monitor work trends and help to develop improved process efficiencies or procedural changes across the department.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates, the Regional Lead, Manager, and other teams regarding process, workflow, and workload issues. 
  • Act as a problem-solving resource to team for both internal and external processes
  • Assist in development and implementation of quality measuring tools. 


  1. BA/some college preparatory experience preferred. High school/GED required.
  2. Basic knowledge and understanding of the Legislative Process. 
  3. Ability to work and communicate effectively with team members and other groups within the organization. 
  4. Strong organizational, prioritization skills and flexibility are required to successfully structure workflow, adjust to changing priorities and meet departmental and company goals. 
  5. Ability to quickly learn, retain and become proficient in new software packages and technical skills. 
  6. Excellent organizational, time management, analytical and decision-making skills. 
  7. Strong collaborative and communication skills. 
  8. Positive attitude, ability to work effectively and creatively in a changing environment. 
  9. Advanced computer skills preferred: - MS Office - MS Word - MS Excel - MS Outlook - Editorial review of XML documents - Experience with Unix and Informix perform screens.
