An opportunity has arisen for an Event Content Manager to join the team at ICIS Conferences, the leading provider of events in the chemicals industry.
We develop, market, sell and organise 26 global conferences and over 40 training events in the petrochemical industry. Each year we attract thousands of people providing them with fantastic opportunities to network and gain essential insights to help make their companies more successful.

We are part of a large business called ICIS, which provides data, market information and expert analysis which enable our customers to identify, plan and react to opportunities in markets that are constantly evolving.
Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, ICIS, you will devise, and create content to support ICIS’ global portfolio of events. With content being a critical part of the Events strategy and an essential element in creating a community within our industry, the Event Content Manager will play a key role within the team.

The Event Content Manager will:

  • Work closely with production and marketing teams for each event to support the creation and delivery of a content management strategy.
  • Take responsibility for the content management initiatives and has the ability to communicate these ideas succinctly in project meetings with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Use own research or previous experience within the petrochemicals industry to produce engaging, well-written and targeted content pieces. This could include providing content for various channels such as:
  • Webinars
  • Social media
  • Whitepapers and thought leadership pieces
  • Speaker/sponsor interviews
  • Video interviews/podcasts
  • Blog posts
  • Monitor performance and engagement of content related activity and make amendments to strategy as appropriate or recommendations to other areas of the portfolio to drive a higher return on investment
  • Work closely with the sales team to create targeted content for select audience groups to showcase our products, services and the benefits of supporting an ICIS event
  • Utilise their product, industry and audience knowledge to make recommendations for future content, formats, features and events to grow the existing portfolio
  • Collaborate with colleagues from the wider business (outside of the events function) to identify and implement cross promotional content based opportunities 

A key element of this role would also involve working with external stakeholders to deliver content for an external industry forum alongside the ICIS portfolio. Alongside the above responsibilities for this event there would be responsibility for:

  • Liaising with event partner on content strategy and providing the content to implement this once agreed
  • Engaging with external stakeholders to use industry knowledge to provide speaker recommendations
  • Reach out to and confirm selected speakers and/or communications teams to brief them on the content based goals for their sessions
  • Attend the event onsite to support the smooth running of the content program and provide a post-event write up
  • Provide all content based marketing collateral for the event; including email, brochure, website and social media copy
  • Work closely with Senior Marketing Manager to deliver content marketing strategy
  • This is an exciting time to join the business in a newly created role to support our overall thought leadership position within the industry, not just within events. This person will be the team’s content expert who understands the evolving landscape of digital content creation and execution with a desire to apply these skills to events within the petrochemicals sector. 

The successful candidate will be:

  • A talented writer and communicator with the ability to create engaging, impactful content across a range of channels
  • Have a passion for research and writing content for the B2B sector – experience of petrochemicals is preferable, although not necessary
  • Has a creative flair whilst also demonstrating analytical skills to identify and explain ideas with sound reasoning
  • Highly organized, methodical and process-driven, demonstrating a drive to improve internal processes whenever possible
  • Motivated to deliver outstanding results, both in terms of quality of content and financial performance
  • Proactive, tenacious and determined create the best content within agreed deadlines
  • Confident and capable of communicating with senior industry executives
  • Literate, persuasive and imaginative, with first rate copywriting skills
  • Able to work both independently, as well as part of a team to deliver top level content and use their market insight to drive growth across the portfolio
  • Confident in managing external stakeholders and be able to communicate clearly with logic and diplomacy
