Editorial Operations Associate, Cell Medical Reports

Cell Press, an imprint of Elsevier, seeks an Editorial Operations Associate to work within our Editorial Operations team. Primary responsibilities involve providing exceptional customer support to our users and coordinating the flow of new and revised manuscripts from submission through publication, which requires frequent and consistent contact with scientific editors, authors, and editorial referees. Editorial Operations Associates are not expected to have a scientific background, although scientific literacy may be helpful.


Day-to-day responsibilities include:


  • Manage high volume of internal and external e-mail correspondence, providing exceptional customer service to authors, reviewers, and staff.
  • Guide manuscripts through an online database from initial submission through editorial decision.
  • Monitor peer review process with a goal of obtaining timely feedback from reviewers.
  • Perform detailed technical checks on accepted manuscripts to ensure compliance with publication guidelines.

This is a 37.5-hour, full-time position and is based in the Cell Press office in Cambridge, Massachusetts.   • The successful candidate will be able to adapt to change, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, treat people professionally, and work equally well collaboratively or independently in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Applicants should be technically savvy and must be PC proficient with expertise working in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook and Excel). Experience with Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and Photoshop is desirable. The ability or desire to learn advanced database management is a plus.
  • A BA/BS degree, or equivalent amount of work experience, is preferred.
