Reed Tech, a LexisNexis Company (a subsidiary of RELX) has a DevOps -Software Engineer III opening.


The DevOps Engineer is a member of an agile development process. They are responsible for the design and implementation of application’s build, release, and configuration activities. The role works closely with IT team members and the Software Engineering team to implement stakeholder requirements in the creation of quality processes. Candidate must have 3+ years’ Dev Ops experience with Windows.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Apply the latest industry advancements to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, performance, and repeatability of setup and deployment.
  • Responsible for configuration, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Create and maintain automated systems for continuous integration and continuous deployment.
  • Work on multiple tasks in support of one or more projects that require a singular area of expertise.
  • Work as a project team member, or independently on small projects.
  • Create and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure that any unexpected issues are promptly identified and escalated.
  • Work collaboratively to develop mutually acceptable solutions among Software Engineering, IT and Product Teams.
  • Facilitate, manage and communicate information related to environments – their current state, deployed versions and availability to developers, QA engineers and team managers.
  • Solve problems and provide support, taking responsibility to make decisions when appropriate.
  • Understand applications from a technical architecture and business goals perspective to apply DevOps best practices.
  • Troubleshoot failed builds and deployments in test environments.  Determine and fix configuration issues.


  • Experience with Microsoft Infrastructure: setup, configuration and monitoring:
  • Windows Servers 2012+ (including administration of Internet Information Services - IIS)
  • Experience in software development with Microsoft .NET.
  •  Knowledge of configuration/deployment management tools is essential, e.g., chef, puppet, salt
  • Experience with Pipelines with Azure DevOps Server 2019, formerly TFS.
  • Experience with Git-based and TFS-based source control
  • Bachelor's degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other related field. Or equivalent work experience
  • Preferably 3-5 years of programming/scripting experience.
  • Experience working in applications, systems or IT operations.
  • Knowledge of an agile team environment and process.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires working knowledge of Powershell.
  • Comfort with frequent incremental code deployments.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing and rapidly growing environment.

·         Ability to evaluate current process and recommend improvements.
