Corporate Deals Paralegal / Market Tracker Analyst - 12 months

 

Product overview:

Market Tracker is a unique service for corporate lawyers available to subscribers of LexisPSL Corporate. 


Key features include:

A database of approx.. 5,000 categorised and fully searchable corporate transaction summaries housed within a powerful data analysis tool, allowing access, analysis and comparison of the specific features of corporate transactions
News and analysis of key corporate deals and activity
In-depth analysis of recent trends in corporate practice


This role would particularly suit a candidate with an interest in corporate law or business that would like to gain experience working with public company transaction documents and an understanding of the relevant regulatory framework. The role also involves data collection and analysis and the research and writing of current awareness, and may be of interest to data analysts or candidates with an interest in financial or legal journalism.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Sourcing, managing, analysing and summarising deal information from third party news feeds and public company transaction documents

  •  Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and conducting market research to ensure that transaction summaries remain current and relevant

  •  In-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of deal and market information to assess the development of trends and to contribute towards annual trend reports for key transaction types

  •  Writing current awareness pieces, summaries of legal market news and mini trend reports in response to market developments for the weekly bulletin

  •  Researching law firm thought leadership and contacting practitioners for comment where appropriate

  •  Highlighting interesting clauses and information to the Corporate PSLs and working with them to create model precedents, in-depth analysis and comment

  •  Working with the rest of the Market Tracker Analysts to explore technological ways in which to access, summarise and analyse public information and data and to design creative and innovative ways in which to present data and trend analysis

  • General administrative tasks to support the effective running of the team.

 Specialist Knowledge / Skills Required:

 

Personal experience:

  • Degree in law or business (or equivalent)

  • An interest in corporate law, financial markets or business desirable, ideally gained through work experience or as part of an academic course

  • Confidence in dealing with queries – both from within the team and other areas of the business

  • Interest in writing and publishing

Technical skills:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications. 

  • MS Excel experience desirable

  • Excellent command of written English 

  • Accurate proofing skills

  • Ability to identify trends and review data
