Corporate Counsel Europe - London based
The Corporate Counsel-Europe position will provide legal support to the LexisNexis Risk Solutions Insurance business, a global provider of data and analytics products and services to the insurance industry. The insurance legal team collaborates with the business in executing on the strategic goals and objectives of the organization.  Specifically, this legal role will directly support the LexisNexis Risk Solutions business teams located throughout Europe.

The position will report to the Insurance Legal–Europe leader and will collaborate with an experienced global legal team, with teams located in North America, Europe and South America. The position requires independently advising the business on matters requiring developed legal and counseling skills in multiple areas of expertise, specifically including the areas of contract negotiation, product review, GDPR guidance and implementation and other regulatory and compliance advice.

The Risk Solutions Insurance Legal Team’s objective is to provide the highest quality legal guidance to support a highly complex, heavily regulated and rapidly changing business whose goal is to provide innovative solutions that challenge the status quo while providing the highest value to its customers.



Provide credible and trustworthy guidance that the business can rely on in evaluating the risks involved in their strategic and tactical efforts, requiring counsel to:
• Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the assigned business markets. Identify and develop strategies to mitigate legal risk and to avoid litigation.
• Advise the business, prepare and review drafts and final copies of legal documents, memoranda and correspondence within an assigned area and within the scope of developed legal expertise, leveraging experience and knowledge of core products.
• Analyze and prepare drafts of complex legal documents, memoranda and correspondence as part of a project team with senior lawyers and management and negotiate documents, as required.
• Identify issues, conduct legal research, analyze the law, prepare briefings memoranda, and advise internal clients regarding multiple issues requiring developed skills in specified areas of expertise.
• Respond to inquiries from regulatory authorities, customers and the wider sales, product and business community.

Provide world-class Customer Experience to both our internal and external customers, requiring counsel to:
• Prepare and review drafts and final copies of customer and supplier contracts.
• Negotiate commercial transactions with customers and supplier contracts.
• Perform initial customer dispute resolution and work with the business to resolve in a timely fashion.
• Support and develop the business growth strategy through continuous personal development and light travel as required.
• Manage assigned projects to completion.


In working through both the daily work and the long term strategy planning, provide immediate feedback, criticism and recommendation for improvements in our legal processes, while adopting and supporting any newly defined process and procedures developed by the Insurance Legal Team.
• Provide and foster a highly collaborative and respectful legal work environment encouraging our team members to be professional and highly engaged in the development and growth of themselves and their team.
• Provide legal support and advice specifically dictated by the role and current specialization of the counsel, including providing assistance to more senior lawyers and management in higher level matters, as needed.


• Qualified lawyer in a common or civil law jurisdiction, preferably Spain, Germany, France or Italy.
• 3+ years of relevant post qualification experience in private practice, law firm or corporate legal department; in-house corporate legal department experience preferred.
• Proven background of relevant post qualification experience in private practice or in-house legal department experience preferred.
• Strong background in supporting business teams located in various locations across Europe, including but not limited to, Spain, Germany, France and Italy.
• Experience in handling and advising on regulatory matters, particularly GDPR and privacy law and policy.
• Experience in the insurance or data analytics industry is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective negotiator.
• Fluent in English essential,  second language of Spanish, German, French or Italian preffered but not essential
