To drive a multi-faceted program supporting the implementation of our new content authoring platform.   The person in this role will work closely with product management, internal staff, operations, and external vendors to ensure successful roll-out of the authoring platform to authors of all long form content types.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

Pre-Implementation Planning

Develop a detailed understanding of the authoring tool, existing workflows and processes, future state workflows and processes, and the short term  gap between the two for each new content type that is to be authored on the platform.  Create delivery plans for the following areas of focus:
--Gap mitigation planning:  For each gap between tool functionality development and future state workflow and for each new content type, work with staff in ERC and Operations to define mitigation options and costs of each, select best option for each gap, and create plan to enable mitigation, including hiring, training, and documentation of interim process as needed.  
--Title on boarding:  For each content area, develop a plan to enable content on boarding against volume goals, including defining exclusion factors against feature development timelines, contract availability, determining Acquisitions Editor needs in terms of marketing collateral for authors, delivery of collateral, and tracking of titles successfully put onto system.  
--Layout design:  Create plan for implementation of new universal design, or expanding standard design availability on system, from perspective of enabling these designs to be used for next edition and first edition content.  Includes marketing collateral for authors and Acquisitions Editors and approach for deciding which standard design or universal design features will be used for next edition content, and approach for reformatting previous edition files if that is required.
-- Cross-training and system/process training: Create cross-training and system training plan for each content area, informed by future-state end to end role job expectations and cross training requirements and title on boarding projections.  Plan for creation of new process documentation where needed and approach to expanding role to more staff across locations.  
Communication planning:  Develop detailed change management plan, including internal communication plan. 
As new phases of implementation are planned, use lessons learned from previous phases to inform each subsequent plan.


In partnership with ERC Strategy and ERC Leaders, and Director Business and Organizational Transformation in particular, develop and execute (design, develop, deliver and manage) Communication plan for change
Lead communications that inspire employees and  a model for others and proactively influences Elsevier as a great place to work.
Create ongoing, aligned and inspirational messaging for authoring tool to rally employees around a common vision that is transparent and takes people along the transformational change journey

Stakeholder Management
Identify, partner with, and influence the correct organizational stakeholders within ERC, Operations and beyond to successfully drive implementation.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences

Experience leading change preferred
Project management certification a plus
7+ years of related, progressive experience in publishing or change management, preferred
