The Cell Metabolism editorial team is expanding!


 

We are looking for an inspired and personable scientist and innovative thinker to join our team of full-time professional scientific editors based in Cambridge, MA, USA. Cell Metabolism has been the top dedicated metabolism research journal for the past 13 years, publishing rigorous and impactful papers that have contributed to defining the field of metabolic research today.


 

Responsibilities of the Scientific Editor include assessing submitted research papers, making recommendations to the editorial team, and overseeing the peer review process; choosing, commissioning, and shaping review material; commissioning and editing previews; traveling to scientific conferences, meetings, and institutes and developing strong ties with the academic, medical, and biotech/pharma communities; organizing scientific conferences; and contributing to Cell Press’s growth and innovation projects, while keeping abreast of scientific and publishing developments.


 

 

Some of the key attributes that we are looking for in the ideal candidate are

 
  1. A Ph.D. or relevant scientific/medical degree in molecular biology/medicine and a strong track record. A background in metabolic research is not strictly required, but postdoctoral, editorial, and/or other relevant professional experience is preferred.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  3. Broad scientific interest in science and publishing
  4. Critical thinking and the willingness to learn
  5. The ability to successfully work independently and in diverse teams
 
This is a full-time in-house editorial position, based at the Cell Press headquarters in Cambridge, MA.
