Market Research Manager

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious research manager/senior research manager. 

Our goal is to have best-in-class customer insight capability and ensure it is a strategic competitive advantage. Reporting into the Head of the Customer Insights, you will play a leading role in a high performing team that brings a large organization closer to its customers. 

The customer insights team act as an in-house market research insight agency. As such we design, plan, and deliver insight projects from start to finish. You will be happy being hands-on, undertaking questionnaire design, analyzing results and delivering insights and recommendations to our internal clients. You will play a leading role on a variety of global customer studies, applying your specialist research and insight skills to support decision making. We also partner with external agencies to support the business. As part your role you will actively manage these relationships to ensure externally completed studies deliver valuable insight.

You will innovate and develop our programs to not only fulfil the current needs of our business but to direct and inform our future path. This role is ideal for someone looking for a client-side move after a successful agency career or for someone with sound consultative and project management skills honed in the client-side environment. International travel will be required.


Main Activities and Responsibilities

·     Oversee our existing customer experience projects for the Nursing and Allied Health business 

·     Manage our global brand tracking study. 

·     Work in a consultative manner with business partners to develop our studies to ensure delivery of maximum customer insight.

·     Synthesize results across multiple sources at a high standard of rigour in order to tell the customer story and make strategic recommendations. This will involve manipulating and analysing data sets that can be complicated and large. 

·     Deepen our knowledge of the market and competitors. Scan, analyse and disseminate market intelligence, utilizing key data sources including press and industry specific reports.

·     Communicate insights powerfully. Pro-actively communicate research results into the business in a compelling manner. Ensure insights translate into actions and drive business decisions.

·     Promote a high level of co-operation with colleagues within the Customer Insights team and across the business. You will promote the team at roadshows in Elsevier’s main offices around the world.

·     Mentor and motivate other members of the team.

·     Think strategically and act tactically to influence and grow the reputation of the customer insights team.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Have a proven ability and expertise in insight generation with over 5 years’ experience in market research (preferably with agency experience).
  • Experience of designing and running research programs, including web-based questionnaires (ConfirmIT experience particularly advantageous) and undertaking analysis.
  • Deep expertise in quantitative research methodologies. Has a good knowledge of statistics (including regression, factor and cluster analysis). Comfortable using tools such as R, SPSS, and Tableau, KNIME, and if not experienced, happy to learn these tools. Expected to be well versed in the key programs across the office suite  (including MS Access). 
  • Great communicator and enthusiastic team player who is approachable and happy to engage with colleagues at all levels. Very comfortable preparing and giving presentations in powerpoint. Sensitive to design and displaying complex information in a visually compelling manner. 
  • Experience working in a Business-to-Business environment advantageous. 
  • Have a keen interest in science. Expertise in healthcare and health education markets desirable.
