Global Production Planning & Control Manager

Are you an excellent stakeholder manager who is motivated to drive improvements by working closely to the primary process? Then you are our next Global Production Planning and Control Manager.

For the Journal Operations team in Amsterdam, Elsevier is hiring a Production Planning and Control Manager. You will be responsible for the global annual journal production planning and control in order to meet very significant company revenue realization targets of Subscription and Open Access business models. Your responsibilities include planning, forecasting, close monitoring and, when necessary, steering of content growth realization at a global level. You will be based in Amsterdam, where you will work closely with senior management in Operations and STMJ, and report directly to the VP Journal Content Operations.

Your responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate production across all 2500 journals handled in Journal Operations
  • Deliver the annual publication volume through 350 Journal Managers, distributed across production sites in six countries and three different continents
  • Oversee and drive delivery of content by Journal Operations for Subscription and Open Access business models in order to meet monthly, quarterly, half year and end-of-year targets
  • Create transparency, insights and forecasts on published article and issue growth through reporting and dashboards
  • Mitigate any impact on revenue realization from unexpected events at production sites or suppliers
  • Coordinate global business continuity planning with Site Directors 
  • Work in close partnership with senior management in Operations and STMJ, STMJ Finance and Strategy teams, Journal Operations Site Directors, Supplier Operations and Procurement

What you should bring

  • University degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Good understanding of production processes within the publishing industry
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Excellent high-level stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to translate complex concepts and data to business partners
  • Ability to identify and lead improvement projects

Occasional travel might be required.
