Software Engineer – Oklahoma City, OK

 

Proagrica is looking for a .NET engineer to join our Summit team. You will be working with a tight-knit group of engineers and developers building the next generation precision agriculture products and tools on the web.

The candidate chosen for this role will work alongside team members in an agile environment and apply technical, analytical and communication skills towards producing and maintaining high quality database-driven web and Windows based applications using .NET and the Microsoft technology stack. 

 

This is a large project and we are looking to implement a plethora of new features and optimize existing functionality.  The software integrates with the largest standardized precision AG API in order to sync data between web, mobile, and desktop apps.  You will be free to solve a varied set of challenges using any technology that effectively and efficiently tackles the issue.

 

We are also in the process of moving our project into an automated DevOps process for testing and deployment to accelerate delivery from code to customer while creating more efficient feedback and safer systems.

 
What you will be doing:
 

The engineers on the Summit team are responsible for updating and maintaining our flagstaff legacy product. From communication between Summit and our data platform (agX) to APIs directly communicating with the user interface.

 

Typical day-to-day tasks for a backend engineer may include:

  • Learn new technologies and approaches that may improve the performance or add new functionality to our applications.
  • Communicate with the API team and database developers to provide development estimates and requirements gathering.
  • Share what you have learned and built with team members across the Proagrica company as well as local technology user groups (if you so choose).
  • Identifying and solving bottlenecks in performance from a wide range of telemetry data captured by our services.
Experience (US only) and Education:
  • 3+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
Technical Skills:

VB.Net, C#, Application Development.

  • Proficiency with data manipulation languages.
  • Understanding of data modeling principles.
  • Ability to work with complex data models.
  • Proficiency in development languages including but not limited to: SQL, Windows, .Net. ? Familiarity of industry best practices
  • Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources.
  • Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall). ? Knowledge of data manipulation languages.
  • Knowledge of data storage subsystems.
  • Knowledge of test-driven development.
  • Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
  • Ability to complete moderately complex bug fixes.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
  • Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
  • Work closely with other development team members to understand moderately complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
  • Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
  • Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Resolve technical issues as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of new technology developments.
  • Complete bug fixes.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Helpful / Preferred
  • Experience developing in MVC, Web Forms and Windows applications
  • Experience with Test Driven Development
  • Experience with dependency injection, automation, and application design patterns
  • Experience using Agile practices
