The Role

  • As Head of New Business Development, you will be responsible for driving the ICIS Business Development Team towards a high-performance culture and developing the behaviours, skills and sales capabilities of the team in order to deliver positive revenue outcomes. This role has line management responsibility for colleagues in Shanghai and Beijing. 
  • You will take ownership of the new business strategy for ICIS in the Chinese market to order to deliver over-target sales results while ensuring that the business is committed to the customer. You should be able to identify new opportunities within new and existing markets and use this to position our business to be customer-centric and begin the transition from point provider to strategic partner. 
  • You will be able to demonstrate the ability to create, nourish and build strong, self-generated sales relationships and you will do this with continued engagement delivered with insight messaging. This will drive a deeper understanding of customer workflow and priorities to allow your team to sell on value. 
  • You will be able to collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver world-leading sales enablement and marketing content, producing thought-leadership and leveraging support from content experts across ICIS as required. 

You will use your position and influence to drive the internal day-to-day operations of the ICIS China business to high performance and you will lead, inspire and motivate the people around you to deliver against business and team objectives. You should therefore be able to role model world class behaviours; hold yourself and others to account and create a truly differentiating, world-class sales team. At the same time, you will create a culture of trust and ownership where people feel empowered to make decisions and take action
