Data Specialist (Entry-Level) - Cirium - Alpharetta


******** 4 days/week, 7PM - 5AM shift, on call every other weekend ********

Job Purpose


Cirium manages and curates two foundational datasets within the aviation industry, Airline Schedules and Minimum Connect Time (MCT). Aggregating data from over 900 suppliers around the world on a daily basis, the task of managing these datasets is the responsibility of the Data Acquisition team. The Cirium Data Specialist understands the complex data landscape of these datasets to provide business benefit and insight. They are responsible for executing all activities related to the management of these datasets that ensures timely updates to the market and ensuring high levels of accuracy. 


Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities/Skills


-          Execute all tasks necessary to maintain Schedules datasets, including but not limited to:

o    ETL, cleansing and data manipulation related tasks on raw data sets

o    Loading/processing Schedule updates into Cirium data management systems

o    Analyze data through reports and queries identifying data patterns

o    Perform basic data problem solving within specific functional area or data type

o    Resolve anomalies to ensure accuracy of data

-          Follow established operational procedures for data entry and data processing

-          Participate and Identify operational process improvements (people, process, system)

-          Maintain and nurture regular communications with data suppliers

-          All other duties as assigned



-          Assure highest level of data integrity

-          Comprehension of data sets (IATA standards), general content subject matter expert

-          Retain learned guidelines and standard operating procedures (IATA)

-          Provide necessary support internally and externally



-          Soft/Analytical

o    Self-motivated, reliable and sense of urgency for tasks

o    Time management and prioritization skills

o    Detail-minded, analytical with an eye for detail

o    Independently make decisions and solve problems

o    Exceptional interpersonal skills, engages others, builds relationships

o    Ability working independently as well as in a team

o    Communication skills- oral/written, confident communicator on subject matter

o    Flexibility to work global business hours (shifts/weekends)

o    Desire to learn new processes and tools

-          Technical

o    Strong MS Office and Excel skills

o    Experience in editing, processing, data blending, manipulation or cleansing data

o    Experience in data collection or data quality control
